Around the dinner table, the conversation was lively. Thank you but for now, the forum has been archived.
Hello, my name is snapsnappo (on here at least) and I discovered Twin Peaks back in 1998 as a first-year undergraduate. VHS tapes from HMV - three episodes on each. I've been waiting for almost 20 years for that cliffhanger to be resolved. Never truly believed that it would ever happen.
First discovered Lynch when Blue Velvet was screened on the BBC one night when I was waaaay too young to be watching it. Probably did some lasting damage. All good, though.
I am a postgraduate historian, a music fan, and a film photography enthusiast. It's a pleasure to be here.
"...oh, and by the way, imho this site is the best of the Twin Peaks forums / pages, such a respectful group of people, wonderful discourse..."
Until Pieter gets drunk and starts throwing punches. You don't want to be around when that happens. 😉
It's happening again. I'm Frida, aka Pine Cone. Twin Peaks, for me, is about many, many things, but always about time.
Twenty-seven years ago I was 30, newly married, my career and life fully ahead. Fast forward to 2017 and I find it richly rewarding to experience DL's world again through fresh, albeit middle-aged, eyes. In many ways, I never left Twin Peaks. I still have my memorabilia, memories, curiosity, and sense of wonder. So much has happened in the intervening years, and yet I welcome these old friends each week- their hair and faces- as mine- changed with age.
But the mystery, the essence, the larger story of the Twin Peaks universe, of the Universe itself remains. It flows into the new characters as interactions between The White Lodge/Black Lodge, secrets and revelations, being and nothingness. Time, in my mind, has a starring role in Twin Peaks.
I hope in another twenty-five years David and Mark will bring us another iteration. Meanwhile, I'll enjoy my black coffee and red, ripe cherry pie.
Howdy, Bartek's the name, I'm half of the Polish ethereal electronica duo Amrou Kithkin. David Lynch and Lynch-related stuff has always been a significant part of my life, me having watched the original run of Twin Peaks on Polish TV back in 1991/92, at the tender age of 6/7 (not kidding here, watched it with my parents and got seriously freaked at some point) and having graduated from Uni in the city of Łódź (the Lynch connection here needs no explanation). Now that I've gotten round to registering here, you should expect some more posts from me in the episodes discussion section.
How did I miss this thread? It can't have been here all along, can it? Oh well, bring on the pie. =)
I'm a fat, 41-year old girl (?) from Sweden. As others have said, saw the show when it aired, but probably didn't understand much at the time. Not that understand everything now either, but at least the brain is working better now.
I have a man, 2 cats, a copy of "The entire mystery" on the way and working on my first adventure game. Nothing fancy, but I hope I can do that for a long time. It's fun and creative.
Very happy to be here. And as several members are pointing out, nice places are hard to find on the internet. Thumbs up! =)
I've been posting here for a few weeks now but only just spotted this thread!
I'm Rob, a thirty something husband and father of two. I work in digital marketing.
I'm a big fan of twin peaks. I loved the original series but FWWM and series 3 are in my opinion Lynch's crowning achievements.
Absolutely loving the new series and can't stop reading the posts and ideas in this forum in between episodes 🙂
Hey there, I'm Jeff, from New Orleans and now in Palm Beach. I also fall into the boat of "watched the original, mostly got it, but maybe not completely." I rewatched the whole series back in 2011 or 2012 just because I wanted to watch it as an adult. The "Dual Spires" episode of Psych renewed my interest. Glad to have it back, and glad to have found this forum. I have a lot of catching up to do, binging it before the next episode now that we're halfway through.
Hey all! I'm Sarah, originally from a small town in northern Missouri but living and going to school in NYC. I'm majoring in History, with a concentration in media and museum studies and a probable minor in Art History. I also currently work part-time at the New York Public Library (the great big one with the lions) as a research page.
When Twin Peaks first aired I had about six years before I was born, so I'm a tad late to the party. I first watched the series about two years ago, at the urging of my father, who doesn't particularly care for it but remembered my mother enjoying it and as we're into the "same sort of weird crap" (his words) I'd probably enjoy it. He was pretty on the nose, and I've watched the original run about four times now (twice on my own, once with my roommate, and currently forcing my boyfriend to watch with me).
As for non-TP things, I sing and play multiple instruments, have a sprinkling of artistic talent, have done some voice and regular acting (all, unfortunately, unpaid), and have somehow ended up amassing a small collection of major Arthurian works and sources (I'm at 8 books and counting).
Hello, Twin Peaks community! My name is Bruno, I'm 26 and I can't believe I'm the first Brazilian posting in this thread. I'm also a biologist studying to become a science journalist, and like to play the theremin and to write fiction while I'm not reading or watching anything.
I discovered David Lynch through a bizarre coincidence involving a pirated DVD someone brought home. It was supposed to be Paul Verhoeven's "The Black Book", but it was actually a fantastic journey called INLAND EMPIRE. I was 16, and I was amazed. Lynch became not only my favorite director, but someone whose ideas really influenced my own journey as a sentient block of carbon in this mysterious cosmos of ours. When I realized he would probably never make another movie, I was so sad at the prospect of being alive at the same time as my favorite filmmaker and never having the thrill of seeing new stuff coming from him (even though I like his songs, it's not the same thing).
Thus, "The Return" is being a fantastic journey to me. Not only I can witness new work by David Lynch, but this is also a return to one of my favorite fictional universes EVER! I watched Twin Peaks when I was 19, and this world got to me in an unforeseen way. My first tattoo reads Fire Walk With Me (not because of BOB, but because I really like the character of MIKE and his quest for redemption), and I've lost count of how many times I caught myself thinking about a phylosophical, spiritual or funny story that Twin Peaks gave me.
So, I guess we're really lucky to witness The Return (and I'm so sad to know that some of the great members of the cast didn't share this luck with us -- a silent tear for the Log Lady), and also to have such a great online community as this one.

Bartek! Listening to your band's Pricipalities EP right now. Amazing opener! You guys belong to the Roadhouse's stage.

Frida, your post is so beautiful it gave me the chills! It is fantastic how intergenerational this series is. And what difference does it make when all we are is just brief sparks of life, right?
Hi! Artemis42 here, hailing from Wisconsin of all places. We like our black coffee and pie as much as the next guy, but it really is about the beer and the old fashioned here. (and yes ..cheese) I also fell in love with the original series. I was in my teens back then so I missed a lot of what was going on at the time, but wow, just wow! About me...hmmm.. Artemis and 42 sum me up pretty nicely. I work at a job that affords me the time to travel. I don't know if I will get to all the places I want to go, but it's been an amazing ride so far. This has been such "damn fine" forum to participate in. It's like group therapy.. I mean I can't be the only one who white knuckles it through the week until the next episode right?

Cheeeeeese!
Nikolaj from Copenhagen, Denmark here (tiny but separate country in Scandinavia, Northern Europe, just FYI). 41 years old, tech startup guy and loves mystical and mythical stories.
Watched TP as a young teen and it scared the shit out of me (well Bob mainly) but somehow I was hooked. Have been looking forward to the return for decades so I'm ecstatic right now. Was expecting something else but I'm loving every second of what we are getting 🙂
PS: Girlfriend is from Seattle, WA not far from Snoqualmie (the fall), I have Douglas fir floors in the house and she now thinks I have a Pacific Northwest fetich.
