In 2023, Tsar B and multi-instrumentalist Dijf Sanders were invited by the Film Festival of Ghent and Videodroom to pay tribute to Twin Peaks and Angelo Badalamenti‘s incredible soundtrack. Their unique interpretation was an instant hit, leading them to perform it multiple times across Belgium in 2024. I was so fortunate to experience both the première and the closing of their show, and honestly, I could feel the presence of Lynch and Badalamenti even between the songs. Today, a month after David Lynch left this world, the artists are eager to share their take on the music of Twin Peaks with the world.
“When the Film Festival of Ghent asked us to honor Twin Peaks with a performance, we were terrified, and I initially said no,” Tsar B tells Welcome to Twin Peaks. “I can’t touch such sacred works.” But you know we wouldn’t be here today if they didn’t end up saying: “Let’s rock!” The allure of diving deep into this world convinced them to go for it, while adhering to a self-imposed yet Lynchian approach: “to play the music of Twin Peaks how they remember it, not necessarily the way it happened.

“David Lynch, both as an artist and a person, has been the most influential force in my life,” Tsar B shares with Welcome to Twin Peaks. “He taught me the art of crafting with our deepest fears, showing me how not to let darkness rule us, but to take it and use it as paint. He taught me to acknowledge the harsh realities of life while adding layers of surrealism to make it more bearable and even fantastic.”
The result of this life-changing artistic influence is now available as a gorgeous concert film that feels like a night at the Roadhouse… plus the trip back home through Ghostwood.
