Nothing major, but I JUST realized this...there are two Sheriff Trumans, twins. Wow, I'm dumb. haha
Twins, huh? I never thought of them as twins. I always pictured Harry to be the younger... or the older...? Hm.
Why was Doris a part of things?
Well maybe not twins so much, although they might be, but another example of that duplicity thing.
I still wonder about Doris. But that just goes along with all the many new characters we were introduced to.......
That character was probably only one of the rare things I didn't like about the show. She seemed too forced

Can't say I disagree with you on that.
I just really wish I could have found some point in her existence. Anybody have any theories on Doris?
I could have sworn that somewhere it was mentioned that frank truman was the older brother with harry being the younger. It may have been in the secret history of twin peaks, but it's been a while since I ready it.
I think Doris was another character with a mental illness which is a theme. She could be seen as an Audrey dopple as she yells abuse at her husband.
That could be it, but also she reminded me of Nadine in the first season always freaking out at Ed.

I think that's right.
I don't know about mental illness, but we are told that Doris wasn't always like this - that it only happened after her son committed suicide. The scene characterizes Chad well with the "he couldn't take being a soldier" line.
I also frankly enjoy the scenes between Doris and Frank - he is so implacable in the face of her ranting, and so on. But, also, if you can manage the perspective change, she might be right. Perhaps he is being impossible.

Her condition is a mental illness.
Totally me projecting here, but I've always felt that a person isn't usually very interesting until something tragic has come and gone for them. It's like you don't really have to own up to what's important, what's real, until faced with the shocking dispassion towards your existence - and then I guess you either don't sweat the small stuff anymore, or you up and lose your shit. Maybe some of both. I might think Doris was just to help us know Frank, what he's willing to burden, and to juxtapose imperfect courage.
I feel suspicious of overly dismissing her, (and flinching at chauvinism) but she is a bit one-dimensional. I can sympathize with her though. My brother died via bomb at 16. Grace is hard earned.
