When the woodsman is broadcasting his poem each repetition ends with "... dark within.".

But the very last time he says this, just before crushing the dj's head,  he seems to say something slightly different. It sounds to me like there is a word between "dark"  and "within".

The head crushing sound is going on at the same time so it is bit hard to decipher. Is it just me or do others hear this as well?

I  hear  "the dark with-rrr-in". Just a grunt.

His voice changes when he is squeezing the skull harder.

I hear it the same as Lucas.  Closed captioning would verify it for certain.

Listen to the sounds :

00:55:12,216 --> 00:55:16,665
The horse is the white of the eyes

00:55:16,701 --> 00:55:20,389
and dark within.

00:55:20,425 --> 00:55:23,393
[pained gagging]

00:55:23,429 --> 00:55:26,312
[crunching]

00:55:29,676 --> 00:55:32,559
[soft pained whimpering]

00:55:38,686 --> 00:55:40,171
[whimpering]

00:55:40,207 --> 00:55:41,813
[crunches]

00:55:41,849 --> 00:55:44,136
[breathing heavily]

00:55:44,172 --> 00:55:45,097
[crunches]

00:55:45,133 --> 00:55:46,819
[splat]

00:55:46,855 --> 00:55:48,981
[blood running]

00:55:49,017 --> 00:55:50,222
[splat]

00:55:50,258 --> 00:55:53,226
[blood dripping]

00:55:53,262 --> 00:55:56,145
[radio static crackling softly]
