Season 3 of Mr. Robot was so good!

I'm starting Dark and it does look promising...I found Stranger Things entertaining but honestly, I don't understand the intense following it has because that's all it is for me. I stopped with Dark because I was watching it late alone at night and it creeped me out, which is definitely promising and a reason to return to it (in the light of day).

I'm just 3 episodes into Dark.  I just stumbled across it.  Definitely reminiscent of TPTR and I think it's similar to Stranger Things in a lot of ways. Much promise here. Does it being German add to the creepiness?

I loved Stranger Things.  It was very endearing to me and I fell in love with the characters. I was most surprised by it.

Mr. Robot seasons are FAR too brief.  🙁

Is anyone else watching "Dark" on Netflix?

Yes! Finished it on Friday and loved every minute of it. The Stranger Things comparisons I've seen made are at best superficial. More like the original danish Killing meets The Return - at least, it certainly shares some themes with The Return which make it an unexpected companion piece. There's a nice article about it on the 25 years later site.

Ah yes, the Killing. I didn't see the original version, but loved the first season of the American version.  It being set in Seattle didn't hurt either.  🙂

When I first watched The Killing, I said "This show soooo wants to be Twin Peaks."

The 2nd season was ok.  Never did see the 3rd.

You did say a while ago that you might check out Mr. Robot.

I did but honestly, I can't be arsed.  That's how much motivation I have to watch anything, post TPTR.  I lost the TV hobby a long time ago and my recent brush with mortality reminded me I only have so much time left.  I'd hate to think I was spending the remaining time vegged out in front of the telly.  At least when I sit at me computer I'm doing several other things at once.

I walk around my living room watching the stuff (gotta get in my Fitbit steps). This accounts for almost all my viewing time.

Black Mirror.  Another Netflix series I was considering.

I usually am doing multiple things while watching TV, which causes some continuity problems sometimes.  I miss things a little too often. Except with TPTR, that I sat down and focused on, with every fiber of my soul.

The power of Lynch/Frost compels it.

And therein lies my problem.  A TV show has to demand my fullest attention and, apart from TPTR, there's nothing out there.  If I want to concentrate on one thing alone, I read.  Or listen to music.  Or play music.  Or draw.  Or paint.  Or write.

I tend to not have background music for anything, except maybe housework or home improvements, since it takes up too much of my concentration and intrudes into whatever else I'm doing.  With housework or home improvement (or DIY as we Brits call it), you don't need to use too much processing power.

That's a really good idea. Might have to do that crop time to time.

I don't tend to have background music.  For housework, yard work, home improvement where I can't really watch TV, I listen to audio books.

I cannot recommend Black Mirror enough, and it doesn't have to be watched in order as each episode is it's own story.  Be prepared for some amazing creativity, with linear story lines for the most part...maybe a slip here or there but so incredible!!!!

TPTR has kept my mind reeling on the possibilities...

Black Mirror is equally impressive in a different fashion, not every episode of course but there are more than enough that are over the top...

I watched and rewatched Dark. I found that I had to make family charts to figure out who was who and what was happening. There has to be a next season of this one.  Many questions unanswered, for example who is Peter Dopplers mother, and who is Reginas father.

We have already seen that many of them are related in unusual ways. I believe that by the end of it we will find that everyone is related to everyone else, and that the show is basically about incest across time lines. It is a very intriguing show, and I hope there is a next season for it.
