I'm looking forward to watching the new blade runner film next weekend.
As am I. I gotta go back and watch the original. Been a looooooooong time.
I was watching a weird movie last night called "The Voices." (has anyone seen it) It's basically about a schizophrenic man living in a delusion. His apartment is disgusting and trashed and whatnot but he sees it as perfect. There's a moment where he's watching television and clicks the TV off so you see the reflection of him and his surroundings, and they look like his delusion. I say to my partner "that would have been so much better if the reflection had shown the actual state of his home."
My partner says back to me "This isn't Twin Peaks."
Agree with the vote for the Twelve Monkeys movie, and another Gilliam classic is Brazil.
Ex Machina was okay, but predictable. Strip away the fancy CG and what you have is a simple Frankenstein movie.
Haven't seen any mention of these, which IMO are worth watching:
Series 7: The Contenders
Primer
A real oldie but a goodie that really pushes the idea of identity and has some very well thought out set pieces, with plenty of the old "As above, so below" going on:
Performance
Might not seem obvious but the animated film "Spirited Away" ...
Lynchian in many ways.
Takes you to a different world...
For kids ... but not really.
Some might like Japanese voice acting better - either way great viewing experience ...

Have you seen The Machinist?
I haven't but I have meant to. Shall I move it up the list?
Definitely. Right to the very top. Make it the next thing you watch, or even sooner than that!

Fairly disturbing flick (Just the thought of Christian Bale at that weight disturbs).
Since 12 Monkeys was brought up, has anyone tried the show?
I am into season 2 of the show and enjoying it more than the film.
Cnograts on being mod! Good riddance to the spam bots too!

I'll have to check again to see if Season 3 is available on Conshaft.
I had mixed feelings about the show at first. But it grew on me. And it had that sequential confusion that TPTR often had. However, 12 Monkeys had a website you could visit to follow the time jumps.....and it was the entire point of the show afterall. 🙂

The Machinist, I think that is what you referred to. I saw that as I am a big Christian Bale fan, and I agree it is a great and very original film. Shows Bale's commitment as an actor, too, as he couldn't look any worse than he does in this film.

Yup. Superb film. True enough about Bale, too; I read somewhere that he regards it as the movie which rescued his career, or at least, rekindled his interest in acting.
I'll have to look at Mr. Robot.
Anyone watch The Fall? Netflix original I think. Smartly written, dark, and the actors are spot on.
Gillian Anderson present day > ever
Dangit I'm just gonna have to break down and get Netflix (and Hulu)
Also on Netflix, Stranger Things. Season one was good, and the season two trailer just dropped and it looks incredible.
