I have this ongoing feeling that Billy is the key to uncovering a major plot point. By this, I'm not saying that the identity of Billy is key. Rather, there must be some missing link which, when uncovered, helps to reconcile many of the seemingly "pointless" scenes. You know, Megan, the stolen truck, etc.
I'm terrible at visualising things and linking things together and tend to work mostly on intuition, so I thought it would be useful to map out a family tree of what we know about Billy.
Before I share the basic family tree, here's a summary of what we know about Billy:
Tina, Billy and Audrey were in a love triangle.
Billy saw Chuck steal a truck.
Tina's daughter is Megan
Megan has an uncle.
Chuck told Audrey that Tina was the last person to see Billy.
Audrey dreamt about Billy bleeding from the mouth.
Bing ran in to the RR diner asking if anyone had seen Billy.
Two days after his appearance: Charlie calls Tina to ask about Billy. He gets some disturbing news. Audrey then takes Charlie to roadhouse to look for Billy.
With all this in mind, I thought I'd start with a basic family tree, which you can see below.
Note that "Me" is Audrey (I used an online family tree maker and the key defaults to Me)
Like I say, this is a basic family tree based on what we know from the season. What sticks out to me is the Unknown, who is Megan's uncle.
So, who is Megan's uncle??? I don't think Billy is her father, but Megan is certainly Tina's daughter. Currenly, the missing link is the uncle. And, as we know, "uncle" is an important point in twin peaks (fire walk with me - the clue in Lil's dance; and in The Return we have the angry car woman visiting the girl's uncle).
If anyone has a family based fact to add to the Billy tree, please let me know.
I think we should pool together our resources and thought processes to solve the Billy mystery together! I think the uncle is key.
Any thoughts?
Edit - I've left Charlie out on purpose for a clearer pic 🙂 however, if somebody has the inclination, I think a proper relationship chart could be constructed, in which all of the relationships could be presented visually. Then, hopefully, a missing link can be identified. I may do this when I have some spare time on my hands.
It seemed important to me that Charlie was very at ease calling Tina, and more, she was forthcoming on the telephone without much encouragement. These two have a relationship of some kind. Audrey and Tina don't get along, but that hasn't cut Charlie off from Tina it seems. Almost like they're family. Could be that they're coworkers, or members of some group together, but it doesn't seem like they're just friends with spouses at odds and all.
If Charlie were the uncle and he was in the kitchen with Meghan and Tina, he would know about Billy and the bleeding incident. But maybe he wasn't there after all (small stature means he's forgettable?). If he was there and did know, he may not tell Audrey, but that seems like a stretch - that's a lot of pretending.
Anyhow, how does Charlie know Tina so well?
That's amazing Mynok. Going to need to think on it a lot. Gives me something new to obsess over.
Initial thought that probably isn't relevant....Chuck is married to Renee, right? Hope I'm remembering this correctly.
Was it Billy or Bing that Billy was asking about in the diner? Was that ever decided on?
Who were some of the other roadhouse characters? Their names are slipping from my memory.
Side note: other important uncle, Uncle Leland.
What I've also found weird but probably means nothing is that the only person we really meet with a William nickname is Bill Hastings. I know he's not the "Billy" we are seeking, but is it coincidental or something like the Mike/Bobby and MIKE/BOB relationship?

That was ny initial thought too. Perhaps Charlie is Tina's brother. It could fit, although we never see Charlie without Audrey.

I recall there being an error in the closed captioning that caused confusion about this. Bing was the male character who ran into the RR to ask if anyone had seen Billy.
I thought Bing was maybe the guy sweeping the floor. Ugh, this could get really confusing.
Who are the other women Renee talks to throughout the show beside Shelley.
I have always believed that Charlie was a doctor or Psychiatrist in Audrey's ward. He was the one who always had Audrey in his care and he is the one attending to her needs. I mean I don't want to sound shallow, but in what world does Audrey end up with a Charlie as her husband? How can this Charlie guy have any impact on Audrey's life in any other, realistic scenario than being her Doctor? Clues like "ending her story" and the fact he isn't personally upset by her affinity for Billy would support this.
But as I stated earlier, every theory is mostly wrong and partially correct as we all put our finish on Lynch's product.

Oh I'm not trying to sell anyone on uncle Charlie by any means, it's more about the question of Tina-Charlie and how they fit.
"Do I have to end your story too?" to me is a top 3 line from the entire series, mysterious and piercing at the same time. But another interesting interaction between Charlie and Audrey (and I don't mean to stray too far from Billy talk) is when Charlie says, "I have rights as your husband", and Audrey says, "you gave up those rights", and Charlie asks, "you mean you'd go back on our deal?"
So what kind of deal would restore a husband's rights that he may have lost somehow? What in the heck is all that?
Ok, sorry - Billy
Does it make any difference to Billy's realness that when Bing asks about him the diner patrons keep changing?
It's possible that Charlie is either Tina's ex husband (Megan's dad, as he's an unknown too at this point) or even the uncle.
However, the uncle is the point of focus, and I feel that Frost/Lynch have given enough clues in the relationships for it to be worked out who the uncle is based on roadhouse discussions.
I do wonder if the next step is to build a brief family tree of other characters, and then see what happens when that tree is merged with the Megan's Uncle one. I.e., what happens to the tree when a specific character is added as the uncle. I appreciate this will take time though.
Like I say, Charlie could very well be the key, but if he is the uncle or ex husband, then I'm not sure what this would uncover in the mystery, other than revealing a weird love triangle, interesting and weird as it may be 😀
I'll update the tree to add Me Coming and Richard, as Richard may also be key.
Perhaps I should add Benjamin and Jerry too.
Perhaps the first Twin Peaks family tree will be created here 😀

Erm, that was meant to say Mr C and Richard. Epic auto correct fail!
