Ok

What if the scene where Coopand Diane have sex is before the curtain call scene!

That's why they ask each other  "is it really you?"

And " do you remember everything? "

And that's why  the kiss in the sheriff station is so passionate.  They've fallen in love!

I guess but it still seems....creepy.....weird.....off?

I have a real problem with what the chronology is meant to be with everything from the red room onwards in part 18, and Coops meeting with The Fireman at the start of part 1. They're like jigsaw pieces I can't quite make fit.

Do you think we're supposed to read much into the fact American Girl is played by the same actress that played Ronette Pulaski? Or was it just a nice little meta moment for the fans?

Why in the credits is she "The American Girl" and not "The American Woman" ?

Clearly because they wanted us to think of the Tom Petty song, and not the Guess Who song, right?

Jeebus, I just realized that Cooper screwed ALL of us with his little trip back in time.

Now it is impossible for ANYONE, including L/F or even Cooper to know the exact meaning or explanation of ANYTHING that happened from February 23rd, 1989 until now.

As a matter of fact, I don't even know when now is...

This was a huge case of sacrifice the world to save the one...I hope it was worth it!

I am out from February 23rd, 1989 on.

Yes it even applies to the world I live in, or the world I think I am living in.

Jack

Anyone else agree?

Why does Naidos image go to red room? She helped Coop to get to earth...... she turns into Diane..... why would she get sent to red room?

I was looking at frames because, stuff; and thought you might all like this good still.

It looks like eyes when shaking back and forth, but looks more like a gaping maw, no?  At least her hands are on straight.

Reminds me of Naido in its way. The lack of/fleshed over eyes...erm...the nudity I guess as well. I mean, there was no real reason Naido had to be nude when found. Were we meant to draw the comparison with the above image?

I've read a Pierre Buffin interview, the boss of BUF visual effects french company (all the TPTR 3D effects were made in France).

He says that the model for the glass box creature was a photo given by Lynch.
BUF asked more to Lynch, so he filmed a dancing girl.
The first draft of the 3D creature was "too animal" for Lynch.
Short time, too many money for a better 3D effects, so Lynch filmed the BUF animation on a screen with shaking effects camera, blur, etc...

This is how Mother and The Experiment were created.

Another little stories : The Arm was crafted by Lynch and was the model of the 3D animation.
BUF filmed 2 hours of various effects for the images after the 1945 Trinity nuclear test. Lynch had just picked few minutes.
The atomic explosion and the mushroom is a 8,000 frames animation, the longest work ever done by BUF (and costed A LOT of bucks).

Has anyone here read "Stranger in a Strange Land"?  There's a lot of parallels.  But a lot of differences, so I'm not sure.

For example:

1. A manned expedition is mounted to visit the planet Mars, but all contact is lost after landing. A second expedition 25 years later finds a single survivor, Valentine Michael Smith.

2. His arrival on Earth has prompted a political power struggle that puts his life in danger.

3. he enters a semblance of catatonia

4. Smith continues to demonstrate psychic abilities and superhuman intelligence, coupled with a childlike naïveté.

5. He investigates many religions, including the Fosterite Church of the New Revelation, a populist megachurch wherein sexuality, gambling, alcohol consumption, and similar activities are allowed, even encouraged, and only considered "sinning" when not under church auspices.

6. The Church owns many politicians and takes violent action against those who oppose it.

7. Anne, Miriam, Dorcas — Harshaw's three personal/professional secretaries, who live with him and take turns as his "front", responding to his instructions; Anne is certified as a Fair Witness, empowered to provide objective legal testimony about events she witnesses; all three become early acolytes of Michael's church.

All this from the Wikipedia entry.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stranger_in_a_Strange_Land

Maybe I like it for the model for Dougie and the brothers Mitchum.  I'm contemplating the idea that Twin Peaks is thick with an amalgam of many  myths and philosophical writings.  Like the Orpheus and Eurydice interpretation, that makes sense to me.  I still don't understand The Little Girl Who Lived Down the Lane.  Working on that one.

Heinlein is quoted, ""I was not giving answers. I was trying to shake the reader loose from some preconceptions and induce him to think for himself, along new and fresh lines. In consequence, each reader gets something different out of that book because he himself supplies the answers ... It is an invitation to think – not to believe."

No such thing as coincidences...

I'm wondering if Charlie is TMFAP  tulpa.

EOTA talks about little girl down the lane and makes or tries to make Coop non-existant , so Charlie talks about the little girl  and can end Audreys story
