Its further back in this thread Pieter said it wasn't the same guy

Thanks.  All the info over the last almost year blurs together quite a bit. 🙂

It sure does. I forget things easily. When I read old threads  I am amazed at what I've forgotten!

What do you think "that gum you like is going to come back in style" means?

Log lady was the gum chewer...

I am pretty sure it was just a clue to help Cooper solve Laura's murder. Leland says he used to chew the gum Senor Droolcup has, and gets the reply, "I have good news. That gum you like is going to come back in style." This triggers Cooper to remember Laura in the Lodge telling him, "My father killed me."

Unless you think there is more to it?

I have been thinking about this, because I am leaning in the direction of taking the Arm saying the line about the story of the little girl who lived down the lane in the same way - as a clue about what is going on with Audrey.

But I  don't understand  how it was a  good clue....

Oh the evolution of the arm.... charlie is small, Ike is small, TMFAP is small.......

Also on Audrey. ... when she is snapped into the white room, she's surprised at her reflection,  not her surroundings.

Why????

I'm not too sure why I think this, but ever since season 2 from all those years ago, I thought that the gum was Black Jack gum (aniseed flavored - tastes like black licorice).

Maybe I read it in an old issue of Wrapped in Plastic.. I dunno.

That's exactly what was in my head too.  I also don't really know why.

Do you feel you can make out the package in the video? If it is Black Jack, that would connect to various things, such as Cooper's skill/luck at black jack at One-Eyed Jacks...

The package is red, no question there.  Further, there is a scene shortly after that shows Cooper putting a stick of gum into his mouth.  The stick of gum is pink and the wrapper is silver.  Combining those three elements gives you Big Red (introduced in 1976).  Although there are several gum sticks that are pinkish in color, and have silver wrappers..  It's the red package that is the tell-tale sign (more on that package towards the end of this).

Black Jack gum is dark purple (black with corn-starch coating giving it a deep purple appearance) and was introduced in 1884.

This leaves the question, has Big Red gum ever gone 'out of style'?

Wikipedia (don't believe everything you read on the internet) states that Black Jack gum ceased production in the 1970's due to slow sales (that most certainly qualifies for going out of style), and came back in the early 2000's (although I discovered it in my senior year of high-school [1992 - the same year that FWWM came out...] ).

This all said, there is a "vintage" gum called Clove (yes, it tastes like cloves) and it is in a red package.

BUT...  The package we see is a "double-wide" package (marketed at a PlenTPak) and that is a container that cloves/black jack did not exist in, but Big Red did.

I think, for at least the prop in Season 2, it was a pack of Big Red that was used.

Now we just have to solve the riddle of "I look like her, but sometimes my arms bend back "

I know some think it is in reference to being tied up, and it well could be, but I just have this feeling it means something else, too.

In the scene before Lauras funeral, Bobby is looking at a picture of Jesus on the cross, and he copies the stance with his arms back...... angel wings?

And, why does she keep contradicting herself ?

I look like her..... I am Laura Palmer.... I am dead, yet I live...

And

Why doesn't Coop jump out of his chair and RUN out when she says "you can go out now"?! He just sits there!

Aaaaargh! !

The White Lodge Album is spot on, and I'm totally impressed with Brian's gum wrapper knowledge.  A good day all around.

Also, there's several other people who thought it was Black Jack for some reason.  They don't seem to know why either.  Here's a gem though:

"What, no outside reference to Judy Garland being born Frances Gumm?" (Green Formica Table - Twin Peaks Gazette)
