This at least accounts for the awkwardness and confusion of Cooper & Diane kissing at the Sheriff's station.
And I love your use of "Buoyancy" which is the perfect word for what I've tried to say many times. Cooper was not his "bouncy/buoyant" self at Judy's or Carrie's. And his dark flatness was very indicative of Mr C during the long drive back to Twin Peaks.
Black and white scenes vs color scenes; remember that Lynch has always had a fascination with Wizard of Oz.. It is very possible that the "reality" is the black and white and the "dream" is the color.
This was supposed to be attached to my above post, I think my computer freaked out on me.
Welcome back! (from a fellow traveller who is also looping back around ;-))
Really, really like how you laid all this out. I'm with Brandy here in that I am pretty much on board with all of this - even if I'm not sure I agree with all the conclusions, I think everything observed is "very important."
I particularly like #6 - it makes me wonder how many things are taking place . . . mmm . . . at the same "time." Like, it's interesting to think that the Laura (or Carrie) in the lodge is being ripped out of that place at the same time that Laura is being ripped out of the woods. I don't know what it means but that, too, seems very important.
Kind of on that line, someone linked to this video the other day that talks about the sound of the record appearing when Laura is ripped out of the woods AND in the final scene of P18:

Maybe. . . maybe this is to indicate that someone's memory/mind has been triggered to remember things they've forgotten? Or, like, their mind is catching up to themselves in a different timeline ("when you get there, you'll already be there?").
I really don't know, just spitballing. Looking forward to hearing more of your thoughts Roberto!
Edit: PS just saw Brian's post - that's flipping AWESOME!!! (the wizard of oz pic)

I really don't think it is the same sound. Just his shoe on the ground. IMHO

This is awesome!!!
This scene always struck me as alluding to the Wizard of Oz as well:
Thanks Micah! I agree that the scritch scratch sound is the same one as the one we hear when Laura is stolen by Judy. As to its meaning in this instance, I’m not sure. Unless it’s meant as another clue to the audience that Judy is hard at work ruining Coop’s day (and new life). Poor Coop & Laura!
Now this has me thinking and something struck me.
1st scene after the credits of the first part. Cooper is sitting in a room with the Giant. "It's in our house now," "430," Richard and Linda, 2 birds, one stone."
And what I didn't notice before was this is not the waiting room/red room we are used to seeing. The chairs have a velvet pattern and the curtains look rumpled and heavier. It's a different room, or a different version.
And this scene is black and white.
Which fits in nicely to the theories in this thread.......
I just posted this in the thread about the lamp in the waiting room; but a theory is out there that the black and white room is located on Jupiter (when Jupiter and Saturn meet they may receive you).
Makes sense but I hate the idea of them being on other planets. Too sci-fi too me.
So if B/W or color signify timelines or past/present/future, what is the significance of the purple then the mauve when he meets up with Naido in part 2? Then she flips the switch and gets thrown into space and everything becomes regular color (as we know it)?
And has anyone commented on the red velvet of Naidos dress?
This scene always struck me as alluding to the Wizard of Oz as well:
Ben Horne was manufacturing a different American Civil War.
Audrey is wearing a dress and a hat like Scarlett O'Hara, no ?

The room with Cooper and the giant? I'll have to check that out! Thanks!
Very first scene after the opening credits of part 1. It must be the fireman's "house." But before I always assumed it was the red room....in black and white.
