I think we are all a part of a Twin Peaks "collective" with each of us knowing certain facets of the show (and Frost's books).  That said, I'm not going to profess to know every detail as I am positive there have been elements that I have missed.

What I want to ask today is, what are some things in Twin Peaks that you consider to be Loose Ends?  That is, something that Lynch seemed to start but you didn't catch the culmination of.

Obviously, Carrie screaming at the end of Season 3 is one.

For me, I've tried to figure out what the significance of the Glass Box in New York.  Who put it there?  How did it become known that it had to be in that specific location?  Was anything ever specifically mentioned about it?

What are your 'loose ends' quandaries?

My biggest loose end quandary is all the new people he introduced to us and then seemingly abandoned. This also goes for all the familiar characters that were reintroduced into our lives and then dropped.

I have many other "curiosities" like the glass box and everything in Buckhorn, etc, etc, etc.  But the abandonment of the people is what really boils my chocolate bunny.

No kidding, right!!!  Yeah, like the guy skulking around the apartment complex going on about how "Chip ain't got no phone!"  WHO was that guy, what was the stuff he was trying to hide, and why show us that follow up scene with him on the phone???

And Hasting's wife. And Becky. And Steven. And Red. And all the Roadhouse patrons and their conversations. etc etc etc

And Johnny. And Shelley. And Carl. And Nadine. And Jacoby. etc etc etc

It seems the only reintroduction of characters with loose ends was the Norma/Ed romance.

I thought it was weird that Donna and Annie weren't brought back or mentioned.

I know that Harry was changed to Frank ..... why? Did the actor not want to do it? Bet he's kicking himself now!

Yeah, Michael Ontkean didn't want to return to filming.  The reason for not returning has not been mentioned.

It still bothers the FIRE out of me that Cooper evidently has a love fling for Diane and that Annie was never mentioned because Annie was the driving force for him to even enter the stinkin Black Lodge to begin with!

Michael Ontkean permanently retired from acting some years back and apparently held steadfast to that statement.

I too am unnerved to no end about Diane.  Annie? Eh, I didn't think she was all that great to begin with, she was ok but nowhere near Cooper's caliber. But DIANE?!?! WTH?!?!?!

Well I've been dying to know why Ontkean didn't want to do it.

The only thing I  coukd come up with for Coop and Diane to be in love is that the order we see things is not quite right and that they had some time together during the 25 years to fall in love.

Maybe he has an illnesss or became a Buddhist or maybe he went into witness protection or maybe he lost a bet with some mobsters and they horribly disfigured him or maybe he simply wanted to be left alone.  Who knows. There could be a really interesting back story there or a really boring one.

I can't for the life of me recall anything resembling a source, but somewhere I got the notion that Ontkean has himself been dealing with health issues. I think there was maybe something where it seemed like he was on board to come back, and then withdrew. Anyone know what I am talking about? Am I making things up? Did this just happen in a dream?

I haven't heard anything official about health issues.  A lot of conjecture and "gossip" from fans, but no actual info from him or publicist.  I just heard that he retired a while back.  I'll have to find that source.

The Annie thing bugs me no end to. Whether Lynch likes it or not, it was a big driving force at the end of the original series and I think the character deserved a little more respect (plus the Diane thing makes no sense - when did it happen? Where?)

On a side note of useless information, take the D away from Diane, add another n, then rearrange the letters and you get Annie. Spooky, eh? ?
