Hiya! I haven’t watched the show since seeing all 18 hours straight at MOMA in January (and meeting Caemeron and Pieter!), but I’m now gearing up for a rewatch.

The fire and the bonsai are great connections! I had Bob’s line to Windom mixed up with Hawk’s line about how the black lodge would “annihilate your soul” if you entered without perfect courage, and in my memory, I assumed that fire was incineration/anihilation of Windom. But you’re right, his soul lived on!

It has been a huge question mark whether Cooper had perfect courage in the end of Season 2. He certainly gets scared as Evil Cooper chases him.

But! Windom attempts and fails to take Cooper’s soul. There is fire at that point too! Windom’s knife to Cooper reverses itself after screenshots of flames. Perhaps Cooper did have perfect courage at that point, ruining Windom’s plans.

Now consider the Fireman! Perhaps it was his plan all along for Cooper to go through this transformation and in a roundabout way eventually contribute to the end of Bob. Maybe the Fireman is putting out fires and/or maybe he uses them—or knows the Red Room will use them.

The connections to Windom are very intriguing. I would’ve thought Lynch wanted nothing to do with him, but maybe they went back and watched those episodes; I should watch them more simply to contribute to my appreciation of The Return. Did Windom really have that suitcase Mr C uses after killing Darya?

He definitely had a similar suitcase... Has anyone explored the question in detail of whether it is the *same* suitcase?

Damned similar.  Hi Tech is super hard to make accurately futuristic.

Mr. C's case does look oddly worn

ahh, they look like different clasps, and footies, and color seems off.  that's not to say it isn't supposed to be the same

You're right, though; clasps look a little different. Hm...

I think they are the same!

Or we are supposed to think they are.

Well,   if Josie can reside in a wooden knob,    who's to say Phillip cannot inhabit a telephone?

Great catch, didn't see these connections before and now I can't unsee them. If it isn't this then maybe the similarities are artistic symbolism David Lynch uses for FBI agents gone rogue, or maybe Mr C channels Windom because he murdered Caroline and almost Cooper. Maybe the grief Windom caused Cooper attracted BOB to Mr C in the first place?

Now

Who made that phone call to Mr C ?????

Right now i think the arm or the doppel-arm is the imposter who made the phone call. "Soon I'll be with BOB again" but who would want to be with BOB again? The arm married BOB in the convenience store if that's to be taken literally. The evolution of the arm has a very similar head to the experiment, maybe the doppel-arm followed Cooper down the void and appeared as the experiment. Perhaps this is why the imposter says "I missed you in new york" since the glass box is there.

Edit: For some reason the first text isn't bold when I try and edit this and I can't unbold it. It is bold, and yet it's not. Imagine it's Gordon speaking or something.
