So far, we have three primary plotlines, or areas of investigation, all isolated from each other. They are clearly destined to converge.
1. Twin Peaks. Truman/Hawk/Bobby, triggered by the Log Lady, are reacting to Laura's missing pages, investigating Cooper's last day before disappearing, and led to Betty Briggs.
2. Las Vegas. DougieCoop's weirdness has the Detectives Fusco snooping around.
3. South Dakota. EvilCoop's and Major Briggs' (partial) return triggered Gordon/Albert/Diane to investigate what's going on.
At some point, Gordon/Albert/Diane and Truman/Hawk/Bobby will learn that each has been investigating the Cooper mystery from different angles. But what do you think will trigger that connection?
The Fuscos searching DougieCoop's fingerprints will likely alert Gordon/Albert and tie those two stories together. But what will draw them finally to Twin Peaks?
GoodCoop returning and a desire to revisit Glastonbury Grove?
FBI contacting Betty Briggs to say they found the Major's body, and she tells the Sheriff?
EvilCoop returns to Twin Peaks and Gordon/Albert track and follow him?
Jerry wanders to South Dakota and finds Albert?
Something else likely much more surreal?
Don't forget the bad sides. Mr. C team and Jeffries team. Mr. C is aware of both South Dakota and Vegas, for sure, and is probably heading to Twin Peaks as soon as he gets the coordinates. Ray, from team Jeffries, is connected to South Dakota and has the coordinates.
I was thinking that the Hawk/Truman/Bobby team will just simply contact the FBI, specifically Gordon, since they are all acquainted. You would think they will contact them right away with this new piece of evidence (message in metal container), as this is something that the FBI obviously should be made aware of. Either that or the prints lifted from DougieCoop (from the coffee mug) will come up in a live scan database and will match Agent cooper's prints. This would surely lead to the Las Vegas Police Department contacting the FBI, perhaps to check if they have an agent undercover in Vegas for any particular reason. You would think this would all happen in the next episode since they seem like the most logical subsequent events, but you never know with Twin Peaks, and you definitely never know with Lynch.
I still think the room key Jade mailed back will lead somewhere. Why put it in there just to be a dead end? Maybe when Audrey shows up, Ben or Beverly will nonchalantly mention it.
Question, guys : the coordinates DoppelDale is after and Briggs' 253 yards from Jack Rabbit's are definitely 2 different locations, right?
Oh that's a great point about the hotel key. I was hoping weeks ago that Ben would say to Truman or Hawk, "this weird thing just happened..." but forgot about it.

I wonder if the key is the source of the weird noises in the Great Northern? Maybe setting up a critical resonance in the lamp or the wiring?
With all the stuff around running the hotel, his brother's odd behaviour and no doubt fractious family life, it's no real surprise Ben forgot all about the key. Maybe something will jog his memory eventually. Or not.
And then there's the ring in Briggs stomach. It brings an artefact of the Las Vegas/Rancho Rosa storyline in touch with the Buckhorn body find AND the old Twin Peaks Major Briggs storyline. If the FBI is still worth anything (any of the Trumps listening in?) they's try to follow the ring...
[Andy as Frodo, Albert as Legolas, BOB as Smeagol, etc]

Ben wouldn't care so much about Cooper, and he probably doesn't know he was missing. Plus he might not be buddies with the Sheriff people, having been a suspect and all.
I'm betting it's gonna be Audrey.
I'm thinking Audrey possibly left Twin Peaks (Lynch planned her to go to Hollywood in a spinoff). And now whether Johnny was just hurt or died, she'll come back.

I think both Audrey and Laura would've played a role in solving the mysteries and tying the investigations together.
HINT: The unofficial title of next week's episode (#10) is: "Laura is the One."

Possibly a follow on from ???????'s creation of the orb? Most likely not but I can live in hope.

I wouldn't be at all suprised if it would turn out to be a dead end. I think it was there just to spark fan theories. In fact, when this season is over, I think many scenes will turn out to have dead ends, not leading us anywhere but possibly to a fourth season.
