Great opening scene with Mr. C walking up to the farm. I honestly didn't think we'd see much of Mr. C so soon. Gary and Chantal were perfect! At this point, I think it safe to say Mr. C might have some trust issues but he certainly seemed confidant with those two. (wonder if Buella and Otis were nearby?)
Back in the late '60's America was shocked by another high-profile, multiple murder case that scared the crap out of me. The "FARM" instantly reminded me of the Manson Family compound. The 'sleeping farmers' especially caused me to think, gee whiz, these Mr. C followers must really feel secure here at the farm ... dead bodies lying around IN BROAD DAYLIGHT (wasn't it a bit refreshing to see the 'bad guys' in this setting instead of the normal dark corners and night scenes?) Who knows, Gary and Chantal might even be remnants from the Manson cult following. Haha!
Okay, now that I've got that off my chest, what impressions did the "Farm" make on you? We saw what we saw, we heard what we heard, but every time I re-watch that whole scene, I get different ideas. (props to whomever noticed Chantal peeking over Mr. C's shoulder as he texted)
I'm left with one major question, where was Ray?
... and tons of minor tangents:
- red bandana, a simple signpost for Mr. C?
- bullet wound(s) /was Ray that bad a shot from 10 paces?
- wouldn't satellite observation help find missing prison escapees/farm?
- Gary & Chantal agenda?
- text message/code
- double header (Chicago Cubs fans surely noticed tip of the hat to Ernie Banks' famous, "let's play two")
Have at it folks! What ideas are growing on your "Farm" ?
1. I think the red bandanna was a sign for Mr C.
2. Ray wasn't that bad a shot; I reckon the Woodsmen did a reasonably competent repair job.
3. Maybe there's some kind of "screening" that prevents satellite imaging but even then it's not as good as people think.
4. Gary and Chantal? Probably yer common or garden loonies who like hanging out with some charismatic, dangerous fruitcake.
5. Ain't got a Scooby Doo*, sorry. Like as not, it's what's already been discussed, regarding the lodge inhabitants and/or the FBI and police investigations.
6. Not a Cubs fan so the reference went over my head, even though I understood it clear enough. OTOH, "Double Header" is common enough in conversation, even over here in the UK.
* Scooby Doo: Rhyming slang = Clue.
I also wondered where Ray was considering he was driving to "The Farm".
Had he been there already?
Did he plant a tracking device on the pickup truck?
Also, did anyone notice the red light/flash on the side of the pickup right before Mr C takes off?
Regarding satellite tracking, I would imagine this is only available for use upon getting approval from NSA/CIA/FBI. So too early to do that I would imagine.
Also, remember that Mr C was allowed out by the warden, and so he might delay such a search.

Speaking of which, what with Robert Forster and Tim Roth, I keep expecting to see Pam Grier or Harvey Kietel show up. A cameo by QT would be pretty cool.
Do we know for sure that this farm was 'The Farm' that Ray was talking about? I don't think it was. I think this was a prearranged meeting place (set up in the motel earlier). Ray says that he told Bad Cooper where he was going and would take care of him when he get's there if he was not already dead. I think we'll see this "place they call The Farm' play out more. Yet another duality going on here I think.
That's a likely scenario.
Also possible is Ray decided to give it a wide berth, knowing Chantal and Gary - both seeming to be Mr C fans - would be there and possibly a tiny little bit displeased that Ray had filled Mr C full of lead. Ray has probably gone into hiding. Not that it'll do him any good but still, I suppose he gets marks for effort.

yay, I agree Steve. Exactly why I typed, the "Farm". I think Buella and Otis might be at "THE" farm, where Ray is headed(?) He probably isn't aware that Darya is dead, so he might be trying to find her too. When Bad Coop told Gary & Chantal to clear out of that place, I think it implied 2 different locations. At the beginning of part 8, didn't Mr. C say something to Ray along the lines of >drive to the place YOU call the farm< ?

Hiya Ric! We've only just met and you know me so well 😉
So is 'The Farm' definitely A farm - and it's not being used as a euphemism? As in 'bought the farm' or even just 'see you back at the ranch' kinda way?
I wasn't sure if it was a particular singular place or a convenient type of pre-arranged place to meet up - off the grid, no close neighbours.
So there could be various 'Farms' on the go at the one time, or in quick succession...

Hi SamX,
That would be great. He could reprise his role as Jimmie Dimmick in "Pulp Fiction". Especially since Jimmie's such a big fan of gourmet coffee. 😉

One of my all time favourite movies. Twin Peaks has some superb one liners but Pulp Fiction beats it hands down.
Another question: Right after Mr. C arrived, Chantal took a baby bag out of her car? Anybody noticed?
What do you think this is about? I have no clue!
