When the camera entered the nuclear reaction, I thought of the similarity of the same thing constantly occurring in the sun, a reaction all life depends on.  I think that Trinity’s “earth sun” upset the natural balance, and the Bob Orb was created within some cosmic garmonbozia.  The giant, whose "Bob klaxon" alerted him to the evil set forth, and with his White Lodge partner, created the Laura Orb to reinstate the cosmic balance.  The charcoal men represent the energy’s destructive side.  The radio mantra reminded me of two things: the savior arriving on a white horse; and you can lead a horse to water, but …  My take is that we have grown so accustomed to nukes that we fell asleep, and it is all now just static.  The boy and girl represent the energy’s hope for the future.  These are some initial thoughts.

A 2017  Space Oddity.

Exactly!  The more we drilled down into the Trinity blast the more I thought of the "2001" scene where the universe unfolds to astronaut Franke Poole.

Wikipedia has some interesting knowledge about Trinity test site name:

The name Jornada del Muerto is translated loosely from Spanish, historically referring to it as the "Journey of the Dead Man," though the modern literal translation is closer to "The Working Day of the Dead." As a geographic name, "Jornada del Muerto" is the desert region the Conquistadors had to cross to make it from Las Cruces, NM. to Soccoro, NM. As a name-place, "Jornada del Muerto" is a loose translations of "single day's journey of the dead man"hence "route of the dead man".

Apologies, Steve Despain, I read your post much too quickly and went all Kubrick on you instead of Bowie!

Brilliant follow up 'Help Dougie' - I was trying to synthesize 'Lynch + Kubrick + Bowie' = '2017 + Space + Oddity'
