What was wrong with the NIN performance? I thought it was brilliant and fit right in with Twin Peaks lore.
My only issue with nin playing was how it was a small club and the other band were all smaller bands. I could see the Chromantics playing there since it's small and that's where they could play in the area. Nin is still a big band and should play a large venue. Which makes me think Trent and company went out of their way to play the roadhouse. They played a small club because maybe they had a history there. Which makes me worry they have a history with the Renault family.
I am left reminding myself as I watch this season that it has been said Lynch is a strong believer in dualism. I feel you can see that philosophy creep in as part of the understanding. I also remind myself a lot of times what he shows you is symbolic and that without more information to come little can be determined for sure.
I've seen it suggested elsewhere that trinity was responsible for the lodges, but that does not fit with what we know about Hawk and his history (remember his history of the lodge story).
I think understanding Jack Parsons tie in is the bests key we have for right now.
I'm not a fan of NiN, but I found their performance the most effective within an episode we've had so far. It was just the perfect thing to come right after what happened to Mr. C and close the present part of the episode. And the rest was absolutely mesmerizing, the final half hour of 2001 meets Eraserhead, only better. So much to think about, but above all, so much to feel. I understand not everyone likes this kind of stuff, but for me it was probably the most wonderful and strange thing TV thing since the pilot.
The consensus is that episode was the origin of bob and Laura.
I think it was a big drawn out to fill an hour (like, did we need the WHOLE Nin song to be played?), but overall it made sense....Kinda.
Remember the Marilyn Manson Act In Lost Hiway??? I think NIN was Nessasary!!!
