I've had quite a bit of fun this past couple of weeks, sifting through threads on this forum. During season one and two I was just finishing up high school and honestly didn't have anyone to bounce ideas/theories off. This was a new, strange and beautiful ( and kinda over my head on many levels ) experience that most people I knew didn't appreciate. So thank you for the ability to hang out and just marvel at the love for Twin Peaks, David Lynch and the beautiful and strange.
@Artemis... I second that emotion! My wife is NOT a fan of TP; she'd rather watch Survivor, Amazing Race, Big Brother, every cooking competition, ALL the flippin' house flippin' shows and a variety of shows about folks roughing it in the wilderness. No complaints, bless her heart, she knows what she likes and watches the heck out of it! I balance the DVR with Dr. Who, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead for example.
Point is, I NEED this forum to "hear" other opinions and viewpoints. Also, just when things get really really serious 'up in here' someone makes me chuckle 🙂
It is a bit strange, having the internet here now - I've only ever known a couple of people in real life who actually watched the original series.
My partner & I also went on holiday from Scotland to Washington state about 20 years ago - we tracked down the man with the Twin Peak location maps and he was really surprised anyone was still interested... 🙂
It's great being able to read what other folk think about it all - and find out what bits you might have missed! It's also a great leveller - someone can be a real David Lynch expert, but someone else might just have picked up on a new & subtle nuance & give an insightful viewpoint...
Yeah I know! Back then the only thing to do with all your theories and questions was keep them to yourself.

Lynn, what "man" did you "track down"????

Maybe you associated with the wrong people. Back then, my (now ex) wife, almost all our friends and both bands I was in used to watch it. People at work, not so much but then, people at work have never really been the sort of folks I'd care to spend my free time with.
I was also in high school when the original series was airing so I found a new appreciation for it after my second watching. I do not know many people who are in to TP (and specifically the return) except for one work friend. It definitely is not for everyone. I kind of like that about Twin Peaks. It doesn't have that hype that other shows have. Stranger Things was a great show, but it had so much hype around it, which resulted in higher expectations and plenty of spoilers. I also appreciate this forum to chat with like-minded people. Also, has anyone noticed that this seems to be one of the only forums where the threads do not turn into ridiculous arguing and name calling? I'm sure Pieter's monitoring helps, but regardless, even with the variety of theories, everyone here is pretty respectful and intelligent 🙂

He worked in the Tourist Information booth in North Bend & had appeared as an extra in the first series. I think he thought we were a bit behind the times, but very kindly rummaged around & found us some maps! 🙂
Well, I have to admit I didn't watch the original series at the time, because I was kinda busy being born (between the first US airings of episodes "Demons" and "Lonely Souls", to be precise). But I eventually came in touch with it through talk from a few friends who have long been great Lynch fans. Some of them finally managed to take me to see a special screening of the pilot in a very old cinema room near my place in Brazil, and I just couldn't stop thinking about it since. Needless to say, I right after that I watched everything Twin Peaks and a few more DL movies, just in time for The Return to begin. But then the friends I had who introduced it to me (and even my girlfriend, so far the only person I succeed on introducing to it) don't seem so many anymore, and they're not as obsessed in finding details, reading weird possibly-related stuff and considering strange theories as I am. So it's really good to have a place like this. Also, it had been a few years since I had last been regularly in touch in some way with a loose group of strangers around the world, and everyone here has been really kind and reasonable, even with obviously widely different views, opinions and ideas. My experience with The Return has been all the more exciting thanks to the discussions here.
I am old enough to remember the legendary "alt.tv.twinpeaks" usenet group, which , in its dial-up-connection way, did just the same thing, bringing us together to explore the darkness. It was a pioneer of on-line community-building around a tv show, and we owe it much.
it is also archived somewhere on the internet, and contains a trove of interesting speculation

I never knew that existed! How did I miss that?!
