First of all, I'm not an expert at quantum physics whatsoever so excuse me if I mess things up and feel free to correct anything I write here. Anyway, after reading 'David Lynch Swerves' by Martha P. Nochimson I found it interesting. For people who also read it this topic should be easy to understand and I hope that others will be at least encouraged to read this book too or to dig this theory on their own.

I really like the idea that the explosion of an atom bomb made it possible for the evil to enter our world. I couldn't come up with a proper explanation for that until I spoke with my friend who reminded me how an atom bomb actually works.

In the biggest simplification, at least as far as I understand it, according to quantum physics every atom, proton and neutron interacts with each other. Taking into consideration the fact that an atom bomb splits the atom makes it interesting. If the atom is split, it is possible for other 'forces'-atoms to interfere with it. For me, that's a perfect opening and possibility for the evil to enter our world.

I know it could be explained in a better way but unfortunately I lack some knowledge about it. On the other hand, I am extremely curious if anyone had that in mind also after watching the ep 08. What do you think ? Let me know.

Also, look at this video and check the images from 4.55. Does it remind you of something ?

First read/listen to The Secret History ( I suggest listen to as many original cast members are in it. And hearing Hawk cuss us a storm is pretty cool), as what you  and your friend said is pretty right on for us casual, layman, untrained  people that like the "fun"  part of it.

It may not be entirely relevant here but at a quantum level, time is very strange, too.

It's believed there is a single unit of time - Planck Time - beyond which, there can be no smaller subdivisions.  All straightforward but... in between one Planck unit and the next, there's a gap, in which nothing at all happens and possibly nothing at all exists.  At least, according to some theories.

Maybe the lodge guys live in these gaps, which would go some way to explaining why time seems to behave in strange ways where they are.

Or not.

I am also nothing more than a layman 🙂 I did read The Secret History, didn't enjoy it much though.

Exactly!

Two of my younger brothers are experts in the weird end of physics.  One of 'em got his PhD, the other didn't submit his final dissertation so, officially he's at Masters level.  That said, they both know their stuff very well.

Anyhow, one of 'em told me of a paper he'd read - which was being taken very seriously - that posited time as we perceive it may not exist at all, that every event exists in one single, huge "lump" of (to borrow a phrase from Doctor Who) timey wimey stuff.  If we could view the whole of time in our universe from some theoretical remote viewpoint, we'd see this.

Hawking reckons that, even if it was true, our perception and existence as baryonic matter, and therefore any reliable experiments we could dream up and conduct, would always show a linear progression, although time itself doesn't seem to care which direction it travels.  All the best experiments suggest time does flow in the direction we expect but under certain conditions, some quantum events appear to happen backwards.  Effect before cause, which seems very (understatement alert!) counterintuitive.

Disclaimer: I am also a layman but lucky to be part of a very smart family.

I recommend giving it a second chance with the audiobook, has to be better.

Bur if you recall, theres a conversion where the idea of  White Sands (and other events)  beinked linked to paranormal activity.  And that activity may be extra-dimensional

oh, thae thing that crawled out of Bad Coop,  was also described
