Doesn't that lay to rest the theory that the Dougie storyline is all a dream and Good Cooper is still in the lodge?
Was there ever such a theory? Thank God I've missed it 😀
I wonder if they can trace it back to Vegas somehow.

Through the local news report of a victim of a highly-publicized would-be gun attack looking uncannily similar to a remarkably well-aged Dale Cooper (really, how does Kyle do it?).
Someone will surely notice, and wouldn't it be hilarious if it was Jacoby? Just...throwing it out there. Yes, I know we'll have to wait and see.

The hotel would have had to pay the postage on delivery, right? So maybe that's how they make the connection.

There appears to be something affixed to the key, so I would say that's an affirmative.

What's affixed??
The postal service may have affixed a tag informing the hotel where the key was posted from. It's the hotel's responsibility to pay the postage.
This is very significant, given how memorable a guest Special Agent Dale Cooper was, and the fact that it's very unusual for hotel keys to be returned in this manner anymore I wouldn't be surprised if Horne pays the TP police a visit...
