I don't know if this was a continuity oversight or a planted clue of some sort. But the scene where Andy was supposed to meet the owner of the truck two hours later shows Andy looking at his watch at about 5:05 p.m. And he's wearing a Rolex watch!! Since when could a small town deputy own a multi thousand dollar watch???
Many have us have wondered at that. Another mystery unsolved like so many of them......

Well, few years ago a french (and rich) publicist have said : "If you turn 50 years, and don't have a Rolex, so your life is a failure".

Andy and Lucy are very methodical and I guess not given to wild, excessive living. Maybe they have a savings account and perhaps invested a little money here and there, which came good. For all we know, Andy may have had a rich uncle, who left him the watch in his will.
