So.. Robert Knepper and Jim Belushi the brothers (i guess) who own the Casino!
I think i haven't seen in the forum nothing about them..
What are your thoughts?
It looks like they are not just the owners of the casino, gangsters too?
Also Mandie & Candie & Sandie what is their deal?
They are Showgirls right? but why were there with them for that scene?
The 3 gals look such typical Lynch characters though!
My first though went to the Castigliani brothers, obviously - I was half expecting to see Belushi spitting espresso (although, he looks more like a cappucino kind of guy) in some napkin... or, like, on the poor guy's face. Of course, I know Lynch wouldn't repeat himself like that, but still : -) Yeah, they definitely looks like gangsters.
And, about the three gals, let's put it this way... If i were a casino-owning gangster in LV, why wouldn't I bring around three girls like that?
True, also when Rodney beats up the guy almost every time he hits him the camera shows the girls just standing there really cool and watching the scene doing their own thing!
Pretty interesting post here (by wingleton) on reddit suggesting that the gals aren't. . .actually there? There's a nice breakdown he/she provided w/ screencaps (see below). Personally, I take it as a decidedly Lynchian moment rather than poor editing - more dream logic/symbolic than literal (i.e., versus the box monster, which seems to be very "real")
Love it.
Yeah - there's a moment when one of the girl is doing something with her hand, like kind of "floating" it, that really creeped me out my pants (and I'm not even sure how that's supposed to work : -D ).
I rewatched that scene over and over and the girls are definitely not there when the men are shown. I'll go for the dream/symbolism theory too.
Yeah that's a really interesting theory! I hope we see more of them again.
Reminded me a bit of the Lil/Blue Rose scene in FWWM. Like a 3 person chorus in a Greek tragedy. Middle lady is making a wave gesture with her hand. Like we say before with Naido?

Whoah it's true, the 3 are never in the same screen with anyone else! WTH!
Pretty but creepy! Too pretty to be spirits, the spirits usually have something off about their looks....
Last two pics they are off to the right outside the shot.
Likely they are used too seeing him beat up guys, and being selfishly jaded, they don't care.

It didn't seem like there was so much space to the right, when we see the other side with a sofa.
