Was that Cooper's first real "independent" talk, from the heart, so to speak? Not just something he first heard from someone else and then mimicked like a parrot? And was it because of those flashes of light he saw on his colleague's face? Is he getting some kind of guidence from someone in the lodge? Why?
And about that statue that he worships. I was thinking about "Without chemicals, he points" again.
Coop's first independent talk was when the escort drove him. Didn't he say sicamore after reading the street sign?
Also at the slot machines he kept saying "hellooooooo". Everytime he hit the jackpot. No one coerced him to say anything.
No, I think he said "Helloooo" first after he heard another winning man saying it.
He never said Sycamore. Pretty sure his first word that wasn't spoken to him was after he spit out the coffee: "Hi!"
Helloooooo! He heard that from the first guy he saw win at the slot machine
Yes, his first unprompted word is "Hi" after the coffee.

I did feel like this was the first sign of Coop returning. In addition to the 'lime light' I felt like perhaps this was his classic intuition clicking in.
Lime colour of this light doesn't match my little theory:) cause I would like to consider it as a glimpse of fire. Just like the flash showing Dougie the right slot machine- It was red room floor with curtains and fire. Fire walk with me - does it sound familiar?:)
Also, anybody noticed the word Fire on the extinguisher visible behind Dougie when he was toilet urgent?
The statue is reminding him of Sheriff Harry S. Truman, wouldn't you agree?

That's what I took from the scene.

I have to go back and watch it. But I'm certain he mumbled it under his breath.

Or just "the side of the law" in general I thought. He seemed focused on those shoes... black ones (the colour of the statue)... like the ones he left behind.
Edit: He didn't say sicamore. The name just ringed a bell. He said, "Jay two rides"?? I knew he uttered something.

It's possible however that the lime light is another manifestation of the lodge influence. Look at the surveillance footage of Mr. Jackpots at the slot machine and you see a beam of green light pointing straight at the one where Cooper's sitting. I feel like this isn't coincidental.
Jade give two rides.
When he said this, I remembered when he first interviewed Bobby at the Twin Peaks Sheriff's, he said the same thing. I think this is one of his innate skills that he can't ignore, so he's on his way back. Also he resonated when his boss said agent.
