Someone mentioned this in another thread - but doesn't Wally speak and mimic the sensibilities of Dick Tremayne, more so than Andy?

i just read a Vice article saying how he was he perfect blend of Lucie and Andy and I thought I would do a double take on this one - anyone else see the similarities with Dick?

I hope Wally sticks around!  Funny character

Wally is mimicing Marlon Brando. I agree that he doesn't seem very "Lucy and Andy" like, but he is not, to me, mimicing Dick.

I thought his scene was hilarious, but I am not sure it is a joke that would stay funny long...

True, he doesn't act/seem like Lucy and Andy, but I can imagine him more as Andy's then Dick's son. Or maybe I just loved the scene so much I didn't pay much attention on paternity question, although Dick did slip my mind for a second.

It's the shadow talk that bought my heart, including the dharma gesture 😀

I guess part of the joke was that Frank Truman just silently stands there through the whole long speech, being overly polite instead of saying,"Nice to see you, but I've got work to do."

In the first episode, Lucy and Andy are talking about Agent Cooper being missing since before Wally was born on the same day as Marlon Brando's  and  "he wanted to name him Marlon."

Well, Wally has probably never met Dick.  What he has is the same pretentious streak, but with different pretensions.  I think Wally is totally Dick's son.

Someone had mentioned before about the re-using of names - BOB/ Bobby; the two Mikes; two Phillips etc...
I think Wally Brando is paying homage to the late, great Waldo.  🙂

Second!! And so far he is to be the only member of the new generation of TP residents born after-1989 who seems to be a normal guy, is not a murderous pervert (think of Richard Horne), or having personal issues/drug problem (think of Becky Burnett).

Yes, he is a bit weird/quirky, but given who his parents are, that's understandable 🙂

Marlon Brando and character actor Wally Cox were long time best friends.  They were complete opposites.  Wally Cox was a small slim man who played mild mannered characters (the bow tie type of fellow).  Marlon Brando was often cast as a social renegade (wife beater tee shirt type of guy).  When Wally Cox died Marlon Brando is said to have asked Wally’s widow if he could have Wally’s ashes.  When she refused his request Marlon is rumored to have stolen Wally’s ashes!

I was extremely annoyed the first time watching by his character, then I got it after one viewing, he's as dumb as his mother and as pretentious as his father Dick.

I think he's a thinly veiled critique of James Hurley, but as a character and as a performance.

Brando also stared in a movie named «One eyed Jacks».
