I've been diligently searching anything about Annie and it's made me think of Hawk's "quest." I had a bit of a eureka moment.
If Hawk was to look in Laura's diary, he should find Annie's message about Cooper, right? But... What would it have to do with his heritage?
The same thought burst into my head last night as I was drifting off to sleep (thanks, TP).
One of the things that never jibed between FWWM and the Series is Annie's instruction to Laura to write "The good Dale is trapped in the lodge..." in her diary. Those are the pages that are missing, and no one has every found them.
I can't remember - did Truman and Cooper collect evidence from Harold's home after he committed suicide?
Perhaps Hawk will need to go on some sort of spiritual quest to locate the missing pages?
Why was Hawk in the woods?
Anybody got any thoughts?
It definitely seemed like he was at Glastonbury Grove and he saw the red curtains. But there was no explaination - I hoped he would go and tell the Log Lady what he saw or what he found, but he did not and it's not mentioned again.
Thoughts?
Do we know that Laura actually wrote Annie's message in her diary?
It's always been my theory (at least, before The Return was announced) that the way they'd discover that the good Dale was in the lodge would be by reassembling the torn pages from Laura's secret diary. Theory assumes that they thought it was important enough to collect all the shredded paper and actually take the time to piece it all together. Always seemed like a project Lucy and Andy would work on together. 🙂
There's been references to the green ring in the Secret History novel in contingency with the Nez Perce dossier. Does Deputy Hawk share ancestry with the Nez Perce do you think?
Agent Desmond pointed out that Theresa Banks' ring was missing from the effects during autopsy. And since the ring was what motivated Bob to kill Laura instead of possessing her, it has relevance to Cooper's case file and it is most definitely missing. I wonder and suspect it's the owl ring that Margaret's log put him on the mission to find.
And those pages are the plot hole I've been trying to forget. Surely that would have been noticed in the investigation. But it makes sense if they were torn out or didn't make the diary altogether.
As for the ring, I don't think that's anywhere near Twin Peaks. The librarian in SD was probably one of the last people to see that, imo.

I think the story will come back to Hawk in the woods at some point. Continuity seems to jump around just a bit.
There were definitely pages torn out of the diary - that is cannon.
All the Black/ White Lodge has got to do with Hawk's heritage! I believe it was him who introduced Cooper (and us) with this concept. Now let's think about Bob- Frank Silva ' s looks and Coop doppelganger- hair, darker and shiny skin.
My old theory actually- It ALL in TP has to do with Indian heritage.

I dont think he saw the curtains, just the grove itself and moved on.

the ring is some what unretrievable now unless someone takes it out of the lodge
Hawk clearly saw in one position of his flashlight that there was a red background, he went past it & then moved the light back to that position. He may not know what it is, but he saw it.
For sure Hawk saw the curtains! TP has to be watched very carefully.
Generally speaking I'm totally buying Annie- Hawk theory. The torn pages from diary are missing and what's written ( the good Dale is trapped in the Lodge) could be only understood by Hawk thanks to his heritage obviously.
And is The Missing Pieces also meant to be part of the TP cannon? There is a scene where traumatized Annie in the hospital is repeating her line "The good Dale is in the Lodge and he can't leave..." The nurse hear it. After this she steals the green ring from Annie and put it on her own finger.
