If you start of by calling people who like sth you didn't fanboys, why then ask those exact same people to defend that thing in front of you? Why would anybody (including the artist) have to justify a piece of art towards sb who shuts his ears before the words even reached them?
If you feel you need to apologise to people you recommended this show to, you might want to think about socialising with different people.
All you've proven with your comment is that you know next to nothing about David Lynch. Do yourself a favour and at least watch "The Art Life" before passing judgement on sb's oeuvre, most parts of which you obviously have not even seen or heard.

My opinion and expectation of the show is different than your's, deal with it.

I did, just letting you know that ignorance is not an opinion.
The creators' understanding of what constitutes a worthwhile story is different than your's, deal with that.

The old standard "you just don't understand David Lynch" justification won't cut it here. I'm a Lynch fan, but that doesn't mean I have to love everything he does. This was bad storytelling, plain and simple. This entire season was self-indulgent, poorly written, poorly directed, poorly edited...
I agree completely with the OP. I would not recommend this to anyone. Sure, it had some good moments, but there were only a few times I felt like I was watching Twin Peaks. After all of the hype and expectations, I'm completely disappointed.
I thought this was all a self indulgent deal Lynch made with Showtime. 18 episodes where Lynch created more screen time for himself than any of the characters we really wanted to see. My Sunday's were wasted for 17 weeks. Anticipation that was credited to a show that could of delivered so much more. I know I'm probably gonna get ripped by fanboys of Lynch that will never admit that he produced a piece of garbage with the third season of Twin Peaks.
I would like to hear how any of you would defend a most likely to be series finale that featured almost half the episode of actors sitting silent in a car driving. Really? I mean it felt like watching paint dry, but at least with paint drying there is a point to it. I recommended this show to so many people that I now have to apologize to and explain why they shouldn't bother watching the third season.
David Lynch you proved to me that you knew nothing about ending a great premise of a show and just wanted to indulge your failed aspirations of becoming an actor. You wanted to end the show with an open door ending? that's fine. But what are your excuses of leaving so many of the other questions unanswered that you could of still accomplished to solve. David Lynch you should of left this show buried in annals of TV shows that ended without failed potential.
After sleeping on it ... I'm just sad. But you are right ... we did see ALOT of Cole and ALOT of new characters while our known/loved characters of TP now seem to be more of a backdrop with minimal screen time. It's just sad and weird.
"I'm a David Lynch fan, but I don't like how David Lynch this show by David Lynch was."
And it's interesting that the OP would use the phrase "deal with it" when in fact he's one of the people having trouble doing just that.
People are allowed to like what they like. However, I think it's interesting/instructive to take a look at yourself and think about why you need your entertainment to be just so. Why does it have to follow the conventions that you deem to be important? Is what you're demanding nothing more than a kind of echo chamber for your own thoughts and desires?
There's no question that DL is challenging us with this ending. Is that a reason to type obscenities and rage like many have done? What does it say about us if we refuse to be challenged?

I'm with you Steve .. I felt it was a very big let down and if that ending was suiting people up for a season 4 you can keep it

I think in English there is a good word for it: Patchwork! And a bad one, that's it.
Sérieusement, c'était n'importe quoi!
...My Sunday's were wasted for 17 weeks..
Guess you didn't like it, huh?
Why did it take so long for you to realize you weren't enjoying it?
The greatest mystery of all...
Who says that this is the last season? Showtime has already said they are game for season 4, but it´s up to David Lynch to agree for another season.
Sir I hope you are correct, but I'm holding out for a movie instead of a new season. I don't want to sit through another third of a year watching this show.
But that wouldn´t be fun. Another season would be great to wrap this up. I am always up for more Twin Peaks. Plus 4 seasons ain´t that bad. Remember, LOST had 6 seasons. ?
Showtime could give Lynch a contract for one million seasons and the finale would always be what we got 🙁

I looked at this season of Twin Peaks as a commissioned piece of art - commissioned by the fans who had to pay out of pocket to subscribe to a channel (Showtime) - very different than watching for free on commercial television - when a benefactor commissions an artist to produce a work - they also assist in setting up the parameters of that work - as it pertains to this season of TP - I think the consumers/commissioners of the art basically (for the finale) had the art commission contract torn up in their faces while the artist kept the money
It was like watching paint dry! https://youtu.be/R3TsS_2LUfQ
i really liked the last season of lost, as i did like this season of twin peaks. but on both those shows i am not a fan of the very last episode.
i dont expect to get all the answers thrown at me at the end, but why bother to make it all more complicated than it already is? and why end it with cliffhangers if you know its the last episode.
if there was a season 4 planned already, then yes. but like this 🙁
Exactly this. It wouldn't have sucked as the end of a season but as the end of the series it leaves too much on the table, too little closure, and too much disregard for audience hopes and expectations. I don't think it's that those of us who feel this way "don't get Lynch," either. I think it's more that we get Lynch but understand that he only makes good television when he allows himself to be tempered by Mark Frost, not allowed to run amok and present a road trip from Texas to Washington in real time.

I paid for showtime as an outside subscription in addition to my normal satellite billing. At 4 months that adds up to about 40 dollars to only watch this show. In my opinion that's my only ignorance. To tell the truth I wasn't really familiar with David Lynch's work outside of Twin Peaks and it doesn't seem to suit my taste. Now if you have a problem with me for that and want to thumb your nose considering yourself better than me based on David Lynch's work. I'll tell you this my friend, you're the truly ignorant person here.
