Yes, I know the actress passed away but plenty of other characters have evolved as they say.
We have seen just about everyone from the convenience store meeting. The ARM, Bob, woodsman throwing the switch, jumping man are all back. The other 2 men shown just look like woodsmen too so you can say they are back. Where is Mrs' Chalfont and her grandson?
If the old woman died maybe whatever was in her maybe inside someone else. Maybe she was Judy and she's inside Sarah? Maybe that's wrong but at least you have something to maybe tie it too.
What about the grandson? These characters all seemed important enough to return.
Could it really be Lynch just dropped both characters due the the actress passing away?
I guess so. But those store characters sure do seem important.

Perhaps that is why they gave Laura the picture. Once Laura died, the picture was still in the house and was an easy way for the Lodge to access the house.
I also think Red might have been the grandson. On the other hand... he also jumped and wore a pointy mask.
I think Lynch's son played the grandson if I remember correctly.
