"Kyle, will there be more Twin Peaks?
To my knowledge, there have been no discussions as of yet so I don’t know. I don’t know."
So everyone's been saying there will be no more Seasons of Twin Peaks, but EW asked Kyle Maclachlan that direct question and all he had to say was that there had been no discussions "as of yet" and he doesn't know. He doesn't say "I don't think so", he just plain says he doesn't know.
So lets just imagine that by some act of good fortune (for some), that David Lynch do wants to continue his story.
I actually don't think that he should do another full season like this one. It simply takes too much time, and the people involved starting on David Lynch himself, are getting too old to commit to a project that long.
I would actually like for him to do a film like FWWM. There are many characters that believe it or not we already have closure: Big Ed and Norma i just want them to live the rest of their lives peacefully, same for the gang at the sheriff station (i actually feared for Andy and i would have been HEARTBROKEN if i saw him die, for him and for Lucy). I just need a side note that Becky is okay and she's back living with Shelly for a while, while she figures out her life. Log Lady we already know she passed away, James is okay being James. Don't even get me started on Jones family
So we did get a lot of closure, for most of the characters of our beloved show.
So i think that David Lynch could possibly consider to make a FWWM type of film while focusing just on Cooper and Laura, the FBI, and hopefully some closure on Audrey. Because really those are the characters we did not had no sense of closure once the Return was done, and that could be done with a film.
Not too sure if it would be a good idea but I'll watch it. I think a film or a feature length episode would be a better option.
I definitely think a movie would work best.....depending on what story he wants to tell.
I'd root less for a film and more for something like a 6-part TV series, whether for Showtime or Netflix/Amazon. I guess I have lots of fuzzy reasons for wanting that, but mainly I just think it would take that long to tell a legit Twin Peaks story that would feel complete to a modern audience. The way entertainment works now, a two-hour movie no longer feels adequate to delve back into a place as rich and confusing and maddening as Twin Peaks.
But I think you're right that The Return updated us on some of our old friends well enough. Bobby and Shelly had a kid and then split up - oh and Bobby's now a cop. Norma and Ed got together. Dr. Jacoby has a second career as a wild-eyed vlogging huckster - and so it goes. To the extent Lynch was willing to perform fan service, we got our fan service.
So now that we've caught up with the "old crowd," a next installment could be much more focused on whatever story it decides to tell. We don't need to jump around to see what Shelly or James or Jerry is up to (even though I think Jerry scored one of the comic highlights of all time with his "bad binoculars!" scene). We wouldn't need a cast of, like, nine-thousand.
I'm hoping that strikes Lynch as an enticing prospect: to cut the sprawling, extraneous stuff (brilliant as some of it was) and just tell whatever batshit story seems to spring from where he left us. We'll all be furious, but we'll love it.
I think it'll depend on how much the final chapter reveals. If a lot of loose ends get tied up then nothing more than a film may be needed.
It would be interesting to see Coop and Laura in the "Odessa universe," and see other TP characters as different people in that universe. Then have the TP universe paralleled with that; changed a little, of course, due to Coop's meddling. Windows into both worlds in the same film would be great. So many possibilities. I wouldn't mind another series at all, but a 3-4 hour movie would work too.
That would be incredibly awesome!
I would jump for joy! I dont want it to end.
To tell the truth, I wish this could just become a regular T.V. show that runs for several years. I know people will say that is impossible. All the crap that gets 7 or more seasons and so little of Lynch's vision.
I already miss so many of the characters. Can only see them again in re-watch. Sigh.....
.
There are so many movies to be made out of this..
All of the side stories could be oscar winners..

I could definitely see a "good-Dougie in Vegas" film.
Wally Brando, the motorcycle diaries
I honestly believe that this ending was a setup for either a film or a season 4. It left all our favorite characters, both old & new, in the position to continue their stories if Lynch & Frost want to use a wide angle lens and tell a larger story. Or, as mentioned above by many people, the fact that we pretty much understand their stories, gives them a clean ending. That allows Lynch & Frost an opportunity to play with the time travel aspect and solve the Laura vs Judy scenario, which is more telephoto style.
I would be there, but not hoping for closure or answers. I think we got those, and they are driving me to the edge of madness. I'll take a little happy delusuion, coffee and pie. At least today. My insides are feeling pretty scraped out.
