The mind shattering climax of Season 3's finale is an estranged manifestation of Lynch's experiences with transcendental meditation, and consequentially any attempt to solve whatever mysteries are contained within Twin Peaks will end up in an egoic mirror conflict with ones self where one side is laughing at the other's struggle to understand what cannot be understood.
Twin Peaks isn't about Laura, it isn't about Cooper, it isn't even about Twin Peaks, all these characters are personal archetypes belonging to Lynch who is trying to express something much deeper. These archetypes exist in all of the esoteric traditions on Earth, which are gradually being unveiled by science; parallel dimensions, multiple selves existing within the same or differing time lines, the list goes on. But the mind that belongs to the single narrative cannot comprehend the multiple narrative mind, the mind that is connected to and is the oneness - so again, trying to understand what the f**k just happened isn't possible because of the singular attachments that are associated with that world and those characters.
Art, music, film at its best guides one towards oneness, and inspires the journey within the dreamer to awaken. It is clear in Lynch's book Catching the Big Fish that he is aware of the power of the marriage between transcendental meditation, archetypes and creativity, and I think if anything the purpose of Twin Peaks is to express the profound connection that he has with that which cannot be named or talked about and subsequently inspire us all to also go there.
See you around.
No, I disagree. If this is where TM leads, then it is nihilism. Breaking apart of all meaning.
I meditate and create music. And what I've found is that love is the most powerful, meaningful and real core of any existence. The end of the show contained no such insight. The artist jerked himself off.
