so 1 thing I almost forgot was the difference in the motel upon arrival vs departure.
seemed to be 1 story when they arrived but 2 stories when Coop leaves in the morning (and car parked far away vs right in front of the room)
And it's a different car.
Different car, too.
1966 Galaxie at night. Next morning, Lincoln Towncar, early 2000s.
EDIT: Ooh, beat me by a second, Edwin!

So did the car also change when they crossed the 430mile mark?

Yea there has been things going on with time and sequence all season .... could be the confirmation of two dimensions .... that Coop changing the fate of Laura changed future events.... is Coop caught in some type of looping purgatory .... does Coop even exist or is Coop a figment of the imagination of Richard? My head is spinning and I will have to watch again and digest...

I watched for that. No. When they arrived at night, they arrived in the '66 Ford Galaxie at the first motel. The Lincoln didn't appear until morning.

So Coop and Diane started the daytime journey from twin peaks in the '66 Ford Galaxie ... it remained the same car when they crossed 430 miles and only changed the next morning?

You are correct, sir.
What's curious to note is that in the morning, Cooper takes notice of the conspicuously different motel (2 story motel, not one)--he glares at it for a moment, but he doesn't even blink at the gigantic limo he's stepping into. Almost a continuity problem.
I certainly have to watch again but my guess is that when they arrive, it's Richard's (Cooper's) dream and when he leaves it's reality. I might change my mind on this after more viewings....
Honestly, except for the very edge of the more modern TV, there's nothing to indicate that the first motel isn't as far back as 1966. There's even a rotary phone. Also I noted the windows on the front of the single-story motel were still the same on the inside when he woke up, but changed when he went outside.

You're on to something.

This is the impression I got. They entered the hotel in a past decade and Coop or "Richard" exited the hotel in a future decade. Is it future or is it past.
I'm rewatching now, but I want to see the comparison between that motel, and the one above the convience store
it is not the day after at the motel.. it is two different timelines,, ways taken , you just get to watch them right after each other ...
Wow. Thanks, I need to rewatch. I needed an excuse to rewatch because that ending freaked me out.
So in the real world after Cooper leaves the hotel and goes to the diner, he's another person who THINKS he's Dale Cooper of the FBI. He's essentially a lunatic to the world. Then he convinces Carrie that's she's Laura and drives her insane. NICE.
