What was the point of bringing them to Twin Peaks?
Was it just to let Rodney make his remark "That's one for the grandkids" and for Sandie/Mandie/Candie to observe that "It's good we made so many sandwiches"?
I liked the remarks, but they felt completely unnecessary - they could just as well simply lend Cooper their jet.
I think throwing all these elements together served to bring everything to a nauseating climax. If the whole business was a dream, the perceived resolution was actually more like an overwhelming turn for the worse. All those bizarre elements, inappropriate at times, ridiculous ideas like being able to punch an orb being with a green garden glove. I don't mean to chalk everything up to being a dream any more than I would chalk up my own existence to being a dream, but if we're going to get existential, trying to explain film as a reflection of reality....i forgot what i was saying. What year is it?

Hi Athena,
(Yet someone else who came from the forehead of a god-like creature. ;-))
If the andie triplets and the Mitchums were only there for a quick quotable quote, surely it would be this one:
Bobby: What's going on around here?
Bradley: Took the words right outta my fuckin' mouth!

I have no idea why most of the characters were there for that final scene since they weren't really involved.
Coop does say he is so glad everyone that is there is there and he hopes to see them again one day...., what exactly that means is the million dollar question!
It is at the point of that "happy reunion scene", with Gordon walking in at the exact right moment, that we see Cooper's observing face superimposed over the screen. I take this as meaning that that dream, with its wacky side characters, is coming to an end.
My first reaction was to assume their presence was all to get this shot. Whatever that's supposed to mean. Some sort of trinity affair. Or curtain call perhaps

Been wondering that same thing. Still no idea. I guess it's what everyone else said. Or something completely different.
