When I start jonesin' for some kind of Twin Peaks hit (and that probably won't be all that long from now), I'll pull out my VHS of "Industrial Symphony No. 1: The Dream of the Broken Hearted" which I snatched up when it was first released in 1990. It's an avant-garde musical play conceived and directed by Lynch, performed live, and filmed for videotape distribution. Featuring Julee Cruise.

And there's this - how happy she is to be part of Twin Peaks:

Julee Cruise: I will always be proud of this.

The Cruise/Lynch relationship is kind of fascinating to me.  From everything I've read or watched they have had a lot of tension working together.  Alternately I've watched and read a lot of interviews with people that absolutely love working with him.  Must just be one of those personality clashes.  It happens.

I sat and watched DotB at a college art showing of Lynch's works (e.g. serial vomiting heads and such). The fact that all other artists were able to show most of their set, using storyline time, while Cruise was relegated to the credits, was telling. At least she wasn't relegated to crazy Michael J. Anderson-land.
