I didn't get this at all!! Was it our Richard ?? Is that another reason why he was such an asshole.. I get why he was evil but did this Linda break his (black) heart?? Or is this a random Richard and Linda that represented Cooper and Diane ?? If so why??
The giant said in 301 that Coop should 'remember Richard and Linda'. My thought was that they were just new identities that Coop and Diane became after the world got altered. Just like Laura became Carrie. I don't think it had anything to do with Richard Horne.

Why not use another name then?! Why use the name Richard .. cause all of us at least I'm assuming the majority of us just assumed Richard Horne ..

It does appear designed to send us struggling along the wrong investigative path like we did for months. I think the Giant was telling Cooper to remember their alternate names when they went thru some kind of electrical field porthole at mile 430. However, it appears that Cooper didn't remember his name? "Linda's" note seemed to confuse him.
Needless to say, we never could have given the Fireman's words this interpretation. I believe we aren't supposed to know. The Fireman told Cooper it could not all be said at that time.

remember bob/bobbie and mike/mike ✌️
This alternate reality that Cooper/Richard finds himself in is clearly constructed with names/elements/references from his previous existence, though everything is different. I can't speak for everyone, but this is a common occurrence that people experience in dreams.
My feeling is this works both ways and this alternate reality also shaped what we have seen in the previous 17 episodes. For example, the Cooper we see here clearly shares some of the traits of Mr. C, though does not seem to have evil intent.
still processing everything we have seen, but it's interesting once you get over the shock and rage (for some, anyway) to ponder. If Lynch/Frost wish to continue, it can literally go anywhere from here.
THAT WAS THE POINT. Lynch wanted you to think it was Richard Horne...
Jesus.

- and Phillip!
So you also noticed that Cooper at the end behaved and spoke like Mr. C? because I was not sure

I didn't think Cooper talked or acted like Evil Coop.... but rather just not like the Dale Cooper we had known before. I didn't think that Coop (Richard) was evil.
