My laptop does not show the emojis. I just see a square.
Blasphemer! Jack Nance was the bomb. Eraserhead?! Though, every time I saw Catherine Coulson on screen, I couldn't help but imagine her banging Jack Nance (they were married a long, long time ago). TMI, right?
I believe the joke is that Jack Nance isn't a convincing fisherman!
I want to mention his great work in Blue Velvet. A very small role but with just a few bits of dialog and a gestures he gave the character a vivid personality. He made me feel as if I had known the character for years.
I took the OP as saying there's no filling Jack Nance's shoes. Should not even be attempted.
I did not read it as Teo (OP) being serious. Thus the smiley face.
🙂
I was not serious indeed, I loved Jack Nance but the guy they took for this extra shot did not look a bit like him, even far awar from behind. I found it a bit sloppy.
Oops I didn't notice. I assumed it was unused footage from the original series. I'm sorry for misinterpreting your post!

I too thought the OP was being negative about Jack Nance. He was great in Dune (Jack not Teo) 😉
And do not forget my favorite one-liner: There was a fish in the percolator 😉

agree. it was a poignant scene & they could've done better than just throw a red-checked mackinaw & khaki pants on some guy who doesn't even vaguely suggest pete from a distance. i admit that took me out of the moment when watching. but it's cool that that yrev distinctive tree (a cedar i think) was still there at the landing to make the shot credible & homey..

You know, I could have been great in Dune 🙂

Perhaps worst recasting ever? ?

Interesting though, it shows it's all about the title.

Hi Sarah,
You got me revved with your notice of details; I didn't think anyone but me noticed plants. The tree is a Shore pine (pinus contorta v. contorta) and it's native to the west coast from Nor. Cal. up through BC, but it's concentrated here on Puget Sound. They grow crooked and twisty like that, and mostly near the ocean shore, but also around all of our inland waterways.
I agree the shot looks great (except for "Pete"), though it's not the Kiana Lodge--they don't have a dock like that. And the Lodge's location would have been an unreasonable hike just to film one fake fishing shot. But, in the center of Seattle is Mercer Island, where everyone's dock looks like that and the horizon backdrop is identical to the location. Film crews had to be in Seattle; it's my guess for the location. I'm a freak for locations, can you tell? I'm also a tree freak (not a militant tree-hugger, mind you, well, a little); it's just my work.
Btw, Kiana Lodge had this cute post.
People actually get their wedding pictures standing on top of Laura's Log (gotta be the groom's idea--poor bride).
best Tree casting ever 🙂
See what happens Teo when you drop a bomb (with a smiley) and walk away. All hell breaks loose. Let this be a lesson to you, young man. 😉
And yes, you would have been fantastic in Dune.
