Karen, if your first post in this thread is right, I hope they haven't shot themselves in the foot. I can imagine a lot of people saying "Fuck Twin Peaks" after the last episode. I'm not convinced there are enough diehards to make another series worthwhile.
Some people who loved original TP said that after seeing FWWM.
Indeed they did but at least with FWWM there was an ending, a seemingly happy one, too.
People noticed the first book doesn't line up with what we know about TP ( original show ).
That's true, but most of it DOES line up. It doesn't give away a lot of stuff we didn't already know, either. The book is more background-- i.e, Lewis and Clark, Native American myth, role of Douglas Milford, etc-- than forecast of unexplained material. We do get some information about characters like Audrey and Log Lady that we didn't learn from the show, but most of it doesn't contradict anything. The confusing Annie stuff is exception rather than rule.
My fear is that we will go after that Final Dossier hungry for answers and won't find any. I don't think it will much matter that it is Frost rather than Lynch.
If there is another season, I won't be paying for several months of Showtime to get it. I'll just wait for it to show up on some free service. I'm not paying to watch people drive again. I've seen Lost Highway enough times.
not saying this IS the case, but maybe... David Lynch loaded the final ep. of original TP with cliff-hangers to encourage people to pressure the suits not to cancel the show, and this new show leaves a lot of them dangling. Reportedly Showtime said they'd be happy to do more TP, so whether that's what David wants or not we shall see.
I already contacted Showtime and told them I wanted more.
