I have 2 questions.  Well, that's not true, I have somewhere around 10, 647 questions.  But I have 2 specific questions regarding 17.

1) Why of all the people we've known for 25 years and of all the people we were introduced for 16 hours, did James get to be part of the Big Boss showdown finale?  Yes, I know, it's because he was friends with Freddie. But anyone could have been the friend, Shelley, Stephen, Ed.  Why James?

2) What are the theories on the drunk now?  It seemed clear to me that only Chad knew he was there (maybe Naido). The drunk only mimicked Chad and Naido.  He took off his bandage.  He thunked his head on the bars.  But then he just "wasn't" anymore. Gone. Poof.  What or who was he?

Dang,  need to go back a second Brandy, he was not in the cell when Chad came back into the room?  I didn't catch that.  I have been thinking that Reggie, Nadio, and Drunk man were all placed in that jail as part of the trap set by the Fireman.  Reggie was to protect and stop evil, Drunk man was to keep an eye on Chad, and Nadio was somehow there either to help Coop in the end or draw Evil Coop.

This leads me to James.  As the ultimate womanizer on Twin Peaks (yeah I'm being ugly towards him), he was there to comfort Nadio and bring his coolness to the final scene.  I heard someone else state that Lynch loved his character so maybe that was part of it.

I cant completely deny whether he was there when Chad re-entered the holding area.  I don't think he was, but I can't be quoted on that.

However, once Chad went down, dude was nowhere to be seen. Andy had to "get everybody out of here" but the drunk was not part of the crew.  As far a I can tell, he was never seen or heard from again.

If I am incorrect on this, please let me know.

Also, whenever there was a larger shot of the cell area, we never saw him in any of those cells.  There were only the closeups of him.

Carl didn't even get a spot in the showdown! Or any bookhouse boy.  But James did?! Not sure if I will ever be able to acclimate to this.  But I am open to theories. I'm hoping and praying there is more to it than Lynch liking the character.

James is not cool.  James has never been cool.

Jimmy isn't any cooler.

Ya the drunk somehow vanishes right around the time Andy gets everyone out of the jail.

The drunk does mimic Freddie one time.

Im on board with the theory the drunk was meant to keep an eye on/torment Chad.

As for why James, thats a good questions, when you think of all the TP characters who had their stories cut short and also who seemed important, hmmm...

Only thing I can think of is maybe James Marshall is good friend with Lynch, I know they wrote that song together.

Also maybe James has more ties to Laura and we all know..."Laura is the one    ; }All"

Sorry I never had the love for some of the original characters others had.  Not saying I didn't enjoy them or see their place in the show, simply didn't fall in love with them.

And that's fine too.  Does that dislike help to make James's presence any more or less understandable?

Which characters DID you like?

Ok.  Can you tell me if this is 16 or 17?  And what did he say?

Although I think Sheriff Truman, Hawk, Andy, James and Dale (honorary member) were included in the Bookhouse Boys, my biggest disappointment of the finale was the absence of Carl and Fireman.

Brandy,

I am truly a gumshoe.  Enjoyed Twin Peaks because it felt like a mystery or mysteries wrapped around a surreal alternative reality.  Being a true left brain person, this surrealism challenged me in ways I am ill-equipped to comprehend.  Learning to fight through my limitations was the best part of the show for me.  As far as characters from the original I enjoyed, the older/adult characters (other than Nadine).

Why not James?

I'm more... disappointed... in the final scene we get for characters like Hawk and Albert. Just standing there in the sheriff's office. No heroics. They're just... there. And then the scene is over. And, like that, their last moments in Twin Peaks are done (well, definitely Albert's).

That's a great way to put it.  It was similarly challenging to me and I wonder if that's why my (a some others) reactions seem to have had a harsher impact and why it feels like it's taking me a lot longer to process and acclimate the ending.

I however loved most of the characters. I have never been quiet about the characters I don't "love."  But I am happy to remind you in case you have forgotten and want to remember.  🙂

Normally I would roll with a "why NOT" response.  But I'm not ready to do that here.  Not yet. If we are going to say why not, why not Ed, why not Carl, why not Red, why not Stephen, why not Shelley, why not the little kid with the gun, why not the coroner Albert been crushin' on? WHY?

I was quite disappointed as well.  Especially since so much was happening and nobody except Freddie moved a muscle to help, intervene, run away, pick their nose, or even say "HOLY SHIT! WTF IS THAT?!" So I'm with you on that.
