What strikes me about that scene is how hard Diane appears to be working and how uninvolved Cooper is, like he was when in bed with Janey-E, except he was obviously thrilled in that scene. Surely we are meant to think about this contrast, especially since Janey-E is supposed to be Diane's half-sister.
Yes, exactly, and that didn't even occur to me until I saw someone on this forum (you?) point out the similarities. It can't be an accident that both sex scenes show one pose only and they're both the same one, both with "Coop" on the bottom, and both with "Coop" basically uninvolved. Sync or no sync, there's something to ponder there.
tomAto, tomato dude. Los Alamos was were the bomb was made, the entire city was built with the purpose of making the bomb. Hanford was the place were the plutonium used for the bomb was created (another little town of workers), which happens to be near the fictional Twin Peaks. These 2 places are connected as far as the bomb story goes. They also built an enormous cable line between the 2 locations so they can communicate directly

Kyle said he played Dougie like he was a baby (with obviously a man's body), so...I think he's just responding with joy (and maybe a little confusion) in that scene with Janey. In the scene with Diane, it's a means to an end. Doesn't mean that he didn't love Diane or it wasn't pleasant--they had other things on their minds, like opening portals to other dimensions. I don't have the exact references for this but the "working" is based on the power of the female orgasm, I believe--so it was more important to get Diane to that point. Cooper in that scene was a means to an end himself. That's my reading of it...right now, anyway!

you're right. The sex scene at the motel is incredibly dense with meaning and internal references (Dougie and Jeaney-E; Diane and Mr. C; My prayer and the mothfrog) and it seems to somehow trigger the last "dimensional change", the one that leads Cooper to find Carrie Page.
