I remember living just outside of Everett for 6 or 7 years.  Use to love going by that house just to remind myself of its ties to one of my favorite tv shows.  I agree though, the use of the current owner does make me wonder if we are the dreamers and we live in the dimension that mother created!

A dimension where Donald Trump is president, North Korea has nukes and the missile technology to deliver them....and there will never be another new episode of Twin Peaks.

Truly the darkest timeline.

Or is it possible that what we are seeing is the evolution of Cooper INTO Mr C?

Not sure how this works in terms of doppelgangers, but could Mr C in episodes 1-17 be the future Cooper, returning to Twin Peaks to complete his mission?

We still aren't entirely sure what he was after......

It's quite possible we're seeing a line of development, more like a continuum (is it future or is it past?) of the Cooper soul from Agent D. to Mr. C. Those are the good/bad polarities (positive/negative, light/dark).

I think what we see in episode 18 developing is something more to the center of the continuum.

In a different thread we were talking about this as a Buddhist framework, but I think there are many ways to describe what's going on. I feel more comfortable talking about it as soul work.

In other words, I do NOT think Mr. C is a doppelganger. I think he's a dark iteration of the one Cooper soul. (Dougie is a tulpa, though--tulpas seem to be different.) Or maybe doppelgangers are always polar iterations of a soul that find themselves facing off in strange timelines.

Would you like coffee?

Good Cooper: Yes Please!

Mr. C:  No thank you

And "Valero Cooper" says nothing when offered: he is neither super agent Dale Cooper nor super villain Mr. C who are the stuff of dreams-- he is just a man; he is the composite of his two dream selves

Yup. Kind of a Clint Eastwood vibe coming from that iteration of Cooper.

I didn't even get him as a composite or middle of the road Cooper...  I thought he was very cardboard-cut-out, going-through-the-motions Cooper.  This makes me wonder if he is the 'entirety' or some shadow figure going through the sequence in that parallel...

I wasn't one of the people wanting the hero agent to ride to everyone's rescue - but I think the 'dull-ness' is beyond ordinary if that makes any sense.  He wasn't just being a normal person (who would have checked with someone in Twin Peaks if Sarah Palmer is around) He was a drone.

If this was about putting Sarah and Laura together (and not attached in anyway to a alternative dimension/plane of existence) then why would Cooper and Diane leave Twin Peaks to go find Laura, but leave without Sarah?  Then follow the progression of bringing Laura back to Twin Peaks?  It suggest either:

  • Cooper knew Sarah was the source of some great evil (assuming it's mother)
  • Traveling 430 miles to a point was about gaining access to another location (not of this world) to find Laura - Funny 430 miles would not get you to Boise Idaho going straight South from Twin Peaks.

Okay I made it to the point of the motel scene before I took another break, some additional thoughts:

  • Cooper is still Cooper up until they cross the 430 location and Diane was still Diane.
  • I think the jumping man is running away from the upstairs afraid as the portal is used to arrive at Phillip's place.
  • I am not sure, but when Laura and Cooper are walking in to woods together and the color comes back, I got the feeling we had moved from past to present/future.
  • Sarah/Mother was obvious angry and distraught about something.  That passion was focused at Laura.  These scene followed immediately after Cooper and her headed off together.
  • Both Cooper and Diane were obviously worried about how things would 'change' after 430.  That also included their feelings about others as they chose that moment to show affection for each other.
  • After 430 there is no dialogue or random looks between Diane and Cooper indicated something had 'changed' and it at the minimum involved their relationship.  The fact that the episode is still in color suggest we are not in the past but a different present (for me this is dimension or plane).  I get the feeling that the longer they are in this 'place' the less of their selves they will be able to retain without help (look at Laura for instance, not there yet again, but my thought about it).  It goes without mentioning the darkness that comes on immediately after passing the 430 location.
  • The noise right before Laura is nabbed is the same that concerned the Fireman.  I think he was telling Cooper in the house line, that the Mother is in their plane/dimension now (meaning Twin Peaks as we know it).  The sound also gives me strong suggestion that Mother is responsible for the disappearance of Laura on their trip to the white lodge.
  • The activities in the waiting room (red lodge if you will) were both the same and different.  No Laura showing up after Mike, the hallway had changed right before Cooper left, and the story from the tree changed.  I think these indicated the impact of Laura no longer dying at Bob's hands.  This goes along with Cooper's message said and understood by Hawk in the station when he indicated some things will change if he completes his mission.

Just some thoughts as I get through more of the episode a second time.  At this point I have a few elements troubling me:

  1. The face-over scenes are there for a purpose - short of Cooper trying to remember what he already had been a part of, a dream by Richard, or simply a message I continue to miss, I am struggling with this.
  2. The Twin Peaks scene fading to black - a dream state, a Cooper memory, hey this sounds familiar!

This was further collaborated by the replace of the fishing scene from the original pilot, showing life had changed.

Another item I failed to mention up to the hotel period (stepping back to #17):

  • Bad Cooper was confused when he arrived at the police station.  It was not where he expected to end up.
  • The Fireman actively prevented Bad Coop from arriving at Sarah's house.  There is a reason for this other than just to spring his trap.

I get the idea that what Bad Coop/Bob wanted was a an audience with the being inside Sarah (which also suggest to me it is not merely the jumping man).  I have to believe this lends itself to the idea Sarah is hosting the Mother.

Not enough yet, to come up with a strong idea on why Evil Coop/Bob wanted to see Mother.

He just wanted his mommy. Mr C/Bob needed a hug and a cookie.

Nope.  And he didn't potty train until he was 6 so all the other blobblings made fun of him at school.
