What do you think it means when Laura (?) says " I feel I know her but sometimes my arms bend back " and then "I am Laura Palmer " and  ""I am dead yet I live "

The arms bent back is in season 1-2 and refers to the way she was tied up before she tied.

"I am dead but I live" seems to refer to the fact that she is dead in some timelines and alive in others (such as Odessa).

She has various doppelgangers, so she needs to ID herself.

Thanks for your answer  but that doesn't seem right to me.

This pic on Mr C's card looks so different than the image on the ring imo.

It looks a bit like arms.....

Someone has drawn over the spade and scratched the card at the top and bottom....

Why draw it over a spade?

Why not draw it on paper?

One eyed jacks?

I stared at those scratches an awful long time.  Was there a staple in there at one point?  Was somebody trying to prime a ballpoint pen?  Was it something like clawing at the sides of your coffin?  Why the scratches???

And, ok, so is that symbol the Bob Blob?  Did the Bob Blob have little T-rex arms like that?   I don't really have firm footing on what's up exactly with that symbol.

I took the image on the playing card to be like a poorly drawn owl. But in light of the thread on the OWL Open-Wire Line thread here maybe the two arms on the card are the two arms of the pylon and the large black blob between them is perhaps the portal that a certain Diane and Coop would be very familiar with...

I know!

I mean the owl ring symbol is angular. This is rounded with little ears at the top. Like a 4 year old would draw.

If the "ears" are arms or legs, why no fingers or toes?

The scratches do look like the pen wouldn't work in the beginning.

But again,  why draw on a card? Why not on blank paper or cardboard?

Hmm...

May have solved the scratch conundrum.  It's a wee bit disappointing if in fact it were so.

If you look at the 2 pairs of scratchings on the card it seems that the card with the image on is both upside down and right way up.  If the lettering is in only one area whether the bottom of the spade symbol or the top of the spade symbol depending how you hold it why have 2 sets of scratchings where the lettering would be.  Surely there should only be one set of scratchings where the lettering is?  Not 2 lots at the bottom and top of the spade symbol.  Anyway as regards the symbol on the card at first I thought it might be a rabbit symbol, then the owl symbol redone, and then after episode 8 the experiment/Judy face as it seems to show her face and ears.

Hi Julie,

I always thought the "scratches" were remnants of pin tacks

(Note the inverted pentagram.)  =:-O

that were repeatedly inserted and removed into the card as it was either taken down and examined or moved from place to place.

The one part that shows a line that looks like a scratch is simply because the card was pinned there so many times, or because some ripped it one of the times it was taken down.

😉

Thanks for your answer  but that doesn't seem right to me.

What doesn't seem right to you? No need to be dismissive--the bit about Laura's line about her arms being related to her tied up in season 1-2 is taken directly from the plot and dialogue of those seasons. I don't have an episode/quotation for you, but I remember it.

That does not mean that there aren't other layers of meaning. The icon on the card might resonate with Laura's arms, although this is the first time I've thought about it.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound disrespectful.

I know about the scene, of course.

I just don't get why she would say "I feel like I know her, but sometimes my arms bend back "

To me it's meaning something else.

Cheers ☺

Just read on another thread that the scratchings could relate to the slashing by Judy/experiment
