FWIW, when I saw the end of episode 17 I didn't like the way the song was presented. In fact, I hated the way it faded in towards the end of the song rather than fading in at the beginning.
Go to youtube and look at the clip of her performing the song live in London in 2010. If you watch until the end you will see that the song seems to mean a lot to her. I think her reaction is understandable.
At least James got to perform his entire song. Every other song paled in comparison to his masterpiece ?
Your steadfast loyalty to James's song is one of my favorite things on this forum. XD
I bet there wasn't a dry eye in anyones home watching that night when he belted out that beautiful song.

Definitely not in Brandy's house.
This is the problem with Facebook. People have become too used to publicly revealing every emotion and thought. It's the internet equivalent of going out into a busy shopping mall in your underwear and screaming like a lunatic. It's like driving around with a megaphone and shouting about whatever just annoyed you. People don't need to hear it.
These angry celebrities need to learn how to keep a lid on things. They could learn a few things from Kyle. I bet he's also disappointed at how The Return ended, but he calmly and diplomatically says he is "still processing it". Yeah, if he thought it was amazing he would have said so. "Still processing it" probably means he's processing his disappointment like many of us are. But it's much better that he says it like that rather than have a public hissy fit like these other lunatics.
She's pretty unbalanced by the sound of it. Same reason she fell out with Lynch the first time. Up her own ass. Fame does terrible things to some people.
Well, this is the problem. See, she might be totally fine most of the time, but occasionally has these kinds of outbursts. So we can end up with a rather distorted view of a person if we just see their public outbursts. Everyone has bad days, and sometimes people fall out. Just don't wave your dirty laundry in public, that's all I'm saying.

My eyes were dry and scratchy (think Ren and Stimpy scratchy).
I'm sorry to see her unhappy. I'm not happy with how she's being treated in this thread but that's the internet for you....
from a story telling standpoint this scene makes sense to me. We get very little of the song. It starts midway through and then credit roll and then the song is over. It's unsettling and left me confused.
If Lynch had played the entire song we as an audience would of been overjoyed to see Julee. Our emotions would have left the scene and we'd be watching something we've longed for for 25 years. Instead we get what we want but then it is gone. We are Coop getting Laura after 25 years and then she is gone.
I wanted more Julee, Dale wanted more Laura. We don't get what we want it's not that simple.
That being said, if this was Lynch's plan then I think he should mention it to Julee. Give someone you've know for 30 years a heads up.
I look for a connection between when we hear this song in TPTR and when we heard it in the original.

Tears of laughter. At the expense of some of you, my comrades.
Ive been a session musician for many years and if an artist cuts my tracks and replaces them, or only uses certain parts, I can be disappointed but to be mad is self defeating and will only lose me gigs in the future. Ive been there and though it doesn't feel good, i have no say in how an artist puts there own product out and what fits and doesn't fit.
Time to grow up.
Having read through every comment on her Facebook post (quite a few of them being from her), I believe I can shed a bit more light on her feelings.
While she is a bit miffed at the way the performance was edited (she called it sloppy), she was fine with the amount that was played and admitted that her anger wasn't really about the use of her performance in the episode, but more about the way she was treated on set. She refused to tell the whole story out of respect for those involved, but she made it sound like they forced her out of retirement to perform with very little notice, and that David and Sabrina S. Sutherland were very rude and disrespectful to her on set, embarrassing her in front of her colleagues. Apparently her conflict with David dates back 28 years in some form, though she says that he's "changed" and that he's much worse now even though she still loves him. She also mentioned that she is dying of Lupus, and is in constant pain. She says this was not properly acknowledged or dealt with while she was on set.
So, make of this what you will. To me it sounds like there's a lot more going on than a dissapointment in the episode. Whatever exactly is going on between her and David will likely remain a mystery, but it sounds like an escalation of the same conflict that they talked about all the way back in the original series. All I know is that I'm sad to learn that she's dying, and was dissappointed that we didn't get a new song from Angelo and Julee.

I'm a musician too, and if my face was barely visible behind the end credits of Twin Peaks, I think I'd be happy.

This. She got her mug on telly, they played some of her song, she got a credit and she got paid.
