If you were promised a definite answer to one question you could ask David Lynch about the Return what would it be?

Mine would be "What did Laura whisper to Agent Cooper in the Red Room?"

What was "the plan?"

Short of just asking what the hell the ending was about (which seems too broad to count as just one question), I feel this would give us the best chance of understanding what the hell the ending was about.
