It very well explained, astral entities require bioplasma and ectoplasma to interfere/materialize themselves in the physical dimensions ( from the astral plane), if she had enough power, she could have killed laura on season 1, 2 ...without needing bob or Leland.....
Nuclear Explosions are another option, once it creates an window of opportunity, due to the fact that all subatomic structures ( from other planes) that were interconnected and anchored in our dimension, are being reorganized after the explosion
