The more I think of it, I don't know how the hell they gonna pull off another season. Story wise it seems almost impossible. What would we be returning to? What would the new season be about? I mean, everything has changed now, hasn't it? Nothing ever happened. Laura didn't die, etc. So therefore all the other things that followed probably never happened too, including all the things in The Return. Or does the old version of Twin Peaks as we know, where Laura did get murdered, still exists in another timeline/dimension? But that would be just too complexed for me to return to.
There is so much more that can be done with the way they ended it and I for one would love another whole season of strange of wonderful alongside the mindfuck ending it would have.
Better to ask them nicely than threaten to yank the subscription away.
I won't call it a threat. After all they're disapponted with the poor rates but happy about the number of new subscriptions. Business is business.
I read they had an 11% increase in subscriptions due to the new season of TP, so they are certainly not going to turn down a future season, if it can bring that amount of revenue in.

I wouldn't also rule out the possibility of another player (e.g. Netflix) financing a new Twin Peaks project by DKL.

I read recently that Netflix told them if Showtime didn't finance The Return that they would, but Lynch stuck with Showtime because he didn't want TPTR to be binge-viewed by being put out all in one go, as Netflix would have done.
