How long would this season have been if you cut out all the plots that went nowhere?

True...but still unnecessary.

Ben could have shown his growth as a human by turning down her advances due to the fact he's still married (at least I think they still are).

Its just providing depth to a character that didn't need it.

Same goes for Becky and Stephen.

Stephen, Becky and some others are fairly forgettable, IMO, I agree. Though I think it was a disservice in Becky's case.

I am just so happy to have had Twin Peaks back, that each and every scene felt important to me.  18 hours wasn't enough in my opinion.  I feel lost knowing there will never be anymore Twin Peaks.  Even the smallest plots had mystery to them.  What brought the once promising and talented Gersten Hayward to Steven of all people?  Why did Carl not want Kriscol to sell his blood?  Why was Sarah Palmer's face superimposed over the Jumping Man's face?  Who is Seniorita Dido?

I did really like Becky as a character and Amanda Seyfried (sp?) as an actress...but in the end it was just a looong subplot with no purpose.

Maybe that's why it was disappointing...I really wanted that character to be more essential to the universe.

Let's cut out all those nonsensical Roadhouse scenes, Becky & Steven, Red, Audrey, Jerry in the woods, Ben and his assistant, 1-1-9 woman...

I'm starting to wonder if David and Mark really intended it to be 9 episodes but then somehow convinced Showtime to expand to 18. Then they just filled it will stuff.

How long would our lives be if we cut out the plots that 'go nowhere'?

Sure, our lives are filled with boring moments, but there's no room for that on a TV show.

Oh, wait...

Yes. I think too, they indended to be 9 episodes. Story of Ben, he listen to the sounds, and receive key. But c'mon, if Cooper would open this door with anything else, nothing would change that for main plot. Same with door location, it would be a door in Sherrif Station. No one would blame for that. Nothing would change that for main plot. But since it is located at Ben's hotel, so there is a reason to show him. How about door at Sherrif Station and Lucy with Andy listening to sounds ? It would be a lot shorter film. Jerry is going to see Mr C and Richard. Without that nothing would change to main plot. We have some story for fans, like Big Ed is at last with Norma. And they are togerher because Nadine was listening to our Doctor audition. But I am happy it's 18 episodes 🙂

This could have all been wrapped up in one normal length movie, but then we wouldn't have had the excitement of a new Part every week.

On the other hand, how long would it have been if all the plots had gone somewhere? Probably 36 parts.

the 'nowhere' scenes are the best scenes. honestly, I would pay to see a version of this season with all the plot-advancing scenes removed.

Hi Oval,

This is a total pipe dream, but the Blu-ray release would really be something if it included a bunch of filmed-but-cut scenes that provide resolution to several of the side stories of season 3.

Yes.  And it would be even better if it allowed you to watch Parts 17 and 18 simultaneously!

😉

Who in Gods name would by this on DVD/Blu-ray? Oh wait, all those suffering from insomnia. I forgot.

If there's gonna be a dvd release, and if it indeed will contain cut scenes that will shed a little more light on some of the plotlines (like the Ruth Davenport-Bill Hastings one), I will never forgive David Lynch for not putting them in the original run of this show. I'm still feeling like I want about 18 hours of my life back from this summer, and if it turns out that those 18 hours could have been more worthwhile watching for me, I'm gonna self combust like a tulpa in the red room!

If you ask me, Twin Peaks: The Return has been a sleeping pill without comparison. And I'm trying to forget it ever happened by binge watching Game of Thrones from the start, since I have never watched a single episode of that show. I just finished the second season, and all I can say is that even though GoT isn't entirely my cup of tea, it's way much better than The Return in every aspect. It's never boring, not for a second.

Must of been worth watching at least once.  Your four trees on your profile likely represented some additional hours.

I'm pretty sure that you spent way more than 18 hours posting on a series that you didn't get based upon how often you pop up in this forum. Maybe you should ask for those back to, but those hours are your own doing and Lynch never asked you to spend them. As for GOT I too am a fan, but there's nothing even to discuss about it, it's simple TV porn and entertaining, there's nothing to interpret, and definitely not something that tests one's "negative capability" like the Return did. I'm still convinced that we will see more, this show was the first stage of changing what TV could be, like what the original series did 25 years ago.

The real question is, which pointless plot line would you MOST like to see resolved? My number 1 choice is Audrey/Charlie. Who is Charlie!!?? I'm losing sleep thinking about it.
2nd choice is the guy with the bag outside Ruth Davenport's apartment.
