RIP Harry Dean Stanton. It's very sad how many of the cast have passed away recently. It feels like the right weekend to watch The Straight Story...

Rest in Peace Harry.  I'll miss him and his whistle, and his super rescue vehicle.

Remember, don't sell your blood.

Agreed. I should add that in addition to Harry Dean Stanton , Catherine Coulson, Miguel Ferrer, etc., when you add other original cast members who passed on during TP's 25 years hiatus, like Frank Silva (BOB), Jack Nance (Pete Martell), Don Davis (Major Briggs), David Bowie (Philip Jeffries), etc. one realize that so many actors and actresses who had left their marks in the show are no longer with us. Each of them made "Twin Peaks" to be the special show loved by each of us

Even when the show runners tried to fill the void left by them during "The Return" by various means (e.g., the vague image of Silva as BOB when Mr C looks in the mirror, the Major's floating head yelling "Blue Rose," Jeffries-smoke voiceover, etc) one cannot help but think that there's something missing once you realized the cast member who made these characters famous are no longer with us.

If there is ever going to be a S4 of "Twin Peaks" it better comes out within the next 2-3 years, before mortality catches on and we lose more original cast members, as it's simply impossible to fill the void left by each cast member once they are gone.

Someone should made an "In Memoriam" You Tube clip featuring each of the original cast member whom have passed on, with this fine Julee Cruise music in the background. Unfortunately, I'm not a video-clip maker, but hopefully someone out there will take this challenge:

Goodbye Harry Dean and thank you! You've always been cool... and you will in your art that stayed with us.

Rest in peace.

Lynch and Frost sure timed the Return decently didn't they? So many have passed on since filming began. At least Harry got to see the film (presumably).

A rare interview with HDS from the DVD bonus for Repo Man (c. 2012), reflecting on his career, life, philosophy, etc. Probably explains why Lynch hired him for many of his projects, including "Twin Peaks," as they shared  a similar worldview.

Note his "life is a movie" comment starting around 11:12 and "(life) is a dream" around 13:15 that probably gives some clue on how he (and likely Lynch) views "Twin Peaks" series. Enjoy!!
