Answers a few questions, at least from her perspective.
The big news is that both she and Kyle are ready to come back and reprise the characters at the drop of a hat.
Also some evidence for the Mr. C/Dale hybrid theorists.
The standout quote for me is this one:
"The ritual of finding the character in all these different ways is so fun and he is so specific that when he sees it, he knows. When I say specific, I mean David even mixed colors for the perfect lip color he wanted for Diane because the lipstick didn’t exist. All of the colors frustrated him so he had to make a “Diane” color with our amazing makeup artist Debbie [Zoller]. Every aspect of [Diane] was so specific so it was an unbelievable blast to find every detail of her."
So, knowing this, do people still believe there are continuity errors in the show? Or, to put it another way, if there are genuine errors, they'll have been noticed in post and deliberately left there, while others were planted deliberately for reasons known only to F&L.
It's hard to say anything is a real continuity error with Twin Peaks. I can see the diner scene with the guns being one. Maybe on one take Kyle messed it up but that turned out to be the take Lynch liked the best. He's okay with the error because he uses those things as inspiration for later stuff so he let's it stay. So, they are errors, sort of, till Lynch decides they aren't and makes something of them. So it's an error Lunch allowed. So can you really call that an error still? I don't know.
This is a good, if short, interview. But it's clear Dern has little idea what Lynch was going for here. She's describing what she came up with to play the scene IMO. She believes this, did Lynch put the idea in her head? I don't know.
The actress believes Lynch was trying to show that Diane was somewhat aware of the new timeline she was in, a place where she could recognize this new Cooper, or Richard, was now a version with elements of both the Cooper she fell in love with and his villainous doppelgänger.

It's not really that clear, fwiw. She certainly has an inside track to this that none of us will ever have.
It’s sort of fascinating to hear the cast talk about acting out these scenes of great complexity and emotional depth without actually knowing what they mean. It must be like being guided blindfolded through a maze. You can see why Lynch keeps coming back to a handful of favorite actors, because it’s got to take a lot of trust and compatibility to follow that kind of direction with enough intuitive understanding to give him what he wants… without knowing what he wants.

Exactly. That's where art differs than, say, science. Or journalism. A lot of stuff comes out during the process. This is painting to Lynch, moving paintings is what he calls film. It's possible he spends way more time on the color of Diane's nails and lips than on continuity details, although I doubt anything is done carelessly. If the actors aren't directing a scene, they just act on direction. Yet I feel like she gave quite a bit of shape to the Richard/Linda thing that jives with a number of fan theories.
Full interview but not a lot more.

Thanks for sharing. Kyle also does about a 15-20min interview on their podcast and another even longer interview with one of the writers of Lost and the Leftovers.
