Hi Brandy,

Tatiana didn't get nominated her first go around.  And she played, what, at least 6 different characters. (love that show BTW).

It's probably because the Emmy deciding people are pissed off at Lynch too. 😀

Still in that anger stage, huh?  😉

Not surprised by this. It's hard to say there was any great acting here. MacLachlan spent way too much time as Dougie to get any nom I would think. Plus this would have been up in the Limited Series category I would think. Just look at who he was up against.

I agree...not sure which KM role is actually deserving of an Emmy.

Dougie repeated words, Bad Coop was emotionless, real Dougie was there for 5 minutes, Real Coop was practically NONEXISTENT.

IMO Naomi Watts gave the best performance and I wouldn't even say that is Emmy worthy.

There's nuance to KM's portrayal of Dougie.  I don't expect the "Academy" will value this, FWIW, but KM's and NW's subtle body language/facial expression  Acting (e.g., in the scene where Dougie and Janey-E are in the waiting room of the LV police station) was consistently incredible ...  Lynch's much-maligned "long, drawn-out" scenes are, IMO, wonderful--given Johanna Ray's tremendous work as a casting director-- because they give virtuosic actors like KM and NW room to breathe, to really work it, not to mention they give the supporting cast a whole lot to work with, all boats rise in the ensemble tide, etc...

Rewatch, and dig into all the delicious details, I'd say....  But, opinions will vary, of course.

Hi Sonia,

He was great. His character was practically catatonic and had hardly any lines but still had to convey this innate goodness and the smallest flicker of Cooper's.... Coop-ness... somewhere deep below the surface. He was also funny as hell. 😉 Oh Kyle.
Oh, yeah.

What impressed me the most about Kyle as Dougie was the scene (probably what you are referring to, too), of him standing outside the Red Door of the Jones's house, where, while gazing adoringly at Sonny Jim, a single tear fell down his face.

For just a single, scintillating second you get a fleeting glimpse, through MacLachaln's eyes, deep inside Dougie's damaged brain, of Special Agent Dale Cooper, struggling to get out - at the same time he's coming to grips with the realization that this familial bliss is something he will never experience.  =:-O

😉

I think the Mr. C character was done brilliantly. "I want Ray...I Don't need...I want." and the Chaplin style Dougie was perfect and then back to the fifties style Cooper and then the last Cooper more like a real person type of cop ninja. Very well thought out performances that show a very talented actor. Same with the Carrie character. Wow she did a great job in those scenes. Everyone was great. Lynch was great!

We'll have to disagree on Sheryl Lee. My biggest fear after FWWM is that Lynch would heavily feature her this season but thankfully she was only in about half an episode.  So thank you David Lynch for that. 🙂

I agree with this, acting is much more than just saying lines. The physical transformations that Kyle went through are top notch, IMO.

Grace Zabriskie. She didn't have much screen time, but stole the show when she did.

Yeah...I stand corrected.

I wish she had more screen time and her new role as a complete badass was explored a little more though.

I agree with this as well. Would've been nice to see Sarah evolve a bit more.

It's a shame that there won't be any nominations this year because next year the show will be out of people's heads.  I think all the Coopers are deserving of an emmy, and Sarah is such a memorable character. So well acted!

That may be a factor but it's not always the case. Breaking Bad cleaned up at the Emmys over a year after the series finale aired. Though I do suspect that Twin Peaks is not the kind of show that appeals to the committees in the same way.

Here is this article that talks about the great performance of Kyle, by barely moving.

I agree that his Dougie role was amazingly executed.  It could have gone so wrong, but KM kept it in balance and pulled it off believably and flawlessly. People wouldn't have been so mad about the ongoing Dougie saga if it wasn't done to perfection.

Agreed. I also think this Dougie carachter was taken till the very end to finally be loved and missed by the viewers.
