Well, after all, we could not expect that the glamorous story about the good persons at the police station, dale cooper etc. should be a reality.
I think we all have had dreams where we were heroes, just like Richard?
It seems like inspired from Franz Kafka, i also noticed there was a picture of Franz on the wall at some office, think it was at Coles office.
I recommend to read "Der Prozess", or "The Trial".
"It was all a dream" is not it - David Lynch does not do cliches.
Depends on how we define it, in mulholland Drive we saw the same, things and person mixed into a glamorous dream, before it cracked down at the end, when meeting reality.
Just like when we have good a dream, and wake up, try to sleep a little more 🙂
Nah, I think it's certain Coop does exist. Not so sure about anything else, though. At least, not in the way we understand it.
My guess is someone - or something - is retconning reality, maybe Cooper himself. By attempting to rescue Laura, he causes all sorts of effects to spread out and change history. He said in the Sheriff's office "The past dictates the future", or words to that effect.
He should have watched Doctor Who, then he'd know what happens when you try to fanny around with timelines, particularly wide ranging events. In this context, I think it's safe to say Laura's death was wide ranging, since it involved the Lodges and the Fireman and all that jazz.
Frost and Lynch like to pull the rug out from under us, so all the above is most likely way off the mark but it's the best I have right now.
I far as I understand it Dale and Diane changed to Richard and Linda when they crossed over the 430 miles mark. Diane understood this and recognised her original self at the motel. Dale didn't and so was confused when he woke up as Richard. I am still confused by the date though because the motel room where they were at seemed old fashioned but outside of the motel seemed fairly up to date.

One interpretation is that we saw only two of an infinite number of hellish experiences that Dale Cooper had after going back in time trying to save Laura. He's trying to put all the pieces together, but is slipping through time and infinite realities.

That's because it was different. Notice how his car changed, too?

Has any one thought about how Jeffries puffed out the sign of the experiment that then transformed into an 8.... the infinite number that never ends? In tracing an eight there is no real beginning and no real end... and I think the same can be said for what is happening?

Hi Andrew,
Cooper: "What year is this?"
😉
