So, i rewatched Ep1, 16, 17 and 18 and i noticed in some scenes he has a pin on his jacket and in some not.
The opening scene in Ep1 with the Giant where he tells Coop to remember Richard and Linda im gonna assume is the real Coop as he seems to be himself. No pin on his jacket.
I haven't rewatched every episode yet, but if we fast forward to Episode 16, we're also gonna assume the Coop that wakes up from his Coma is the real Coop. No Pin.
Episode 17. No Pin at the Station, but from where Gordon and Diane follows him to the door where he meets the one armed man that will lead him to Jeffries, the pin is on his jacket. And it's there from that point, to when he is being sent back to save Laura, fails, episode 18, goes back to the black lodge, leaves the black lodge where he meets Diane and everything happening until they arrive at the motel he has the pin on his jacket.
When they arrive the motel, he walks out of the car and goes to the reception and walks back in the front of the door. Here he doesn't have a pin. But the second they walk in the door, it's back on. And it's on for the rest of the episode as Richard as well.
Dougie didn't seem to have on either.

Could this possibly be a sign that the Coop wearing a pin was a Tulpa? Certainly didn't seem like himself that's for sure. He did what Jeffries did, made a Tulpa and sent him back to a certain point in time to warn someone.

That, or we have the dream theory.
Coop's face that fills the screen at the station he doesn't wear a pin, but immediately when Diane and Gordon walks him out, the face dissappears and he is wearing the pin again. Since he's saying we all live inside a dream while his face is covering the screen. im assuming that's him awake. So when he's wearing a pin it's back to reality. Or it could the be other way around off course, who knows.

Gonna rewatch more episodes, because i do believe this means something.

If you look at the finale for season 2, when DoppleCoop smashes his head into the mirror, you will see that he is wearing that pin. My guess is that the Richard and Linda sequence occurs right after DoppleCoop leaves the waiting room. It is a bit confusing as he isn't the same age, but that small detail doesn't matter in the dream world.

Also- the pin seems to change colour. All silver, to silver with red fire (similar to DoppleCoop's pin). This may help out with figuring out the correct time sequences.

Mrs. Tremond wears a pin that looked familiar like the one on the back of the bad Coopers hair, they show close when the giant puts him at TP police station. Maybe i'm wrong. And Laura at the house has the horse necklace.
