Well, we have all had our individual reactions to the wrap-up of The Return, and of course, there's no point in us trying to convince each other that our reaction is the "right" one because there is no "right" reaction, there's only our own and each other's.
There have been some very well expressed reasons from people who didn't like how the series ended and may even be angry about it. I only know I had different expectations than theirs.
Many fans were outraged by Fire when it came out because it wasn't enough like the original TV series. Their expectations were thwarted. Perhaps because of the nature of Fire, and how it really was so different from the series, I never had any expectation for The Return to be like the original show. The precedent had already been set for extensions of Twin Peaks to be unpredictable. And sure enough, it turns out that nobody could have possibly predicted what Lynch and Frost were going to do this time around. We can at least conclude that much - this isn't what anyone thought it might be like.
