A literal second before the call from the Las Vegas FBI, Gordon Cole says he and the Blue Rose team "should've heard from Coop by now." He then immediately hears from Coop, via Bushnell. For the first time in 25 years.
In the sheriff's station, Coop says Gordon is "right on time" - though that could just be Coop assuming the message from Bushnell was received and understood. Though it's funny how sure he was that Bushnell and Gordon would have a chance to talk.
What I'm getting at is: was there some understanding that Gordon and Coop would reconnect at this exact minute of this exact day? The whole 25 years he was missing, was Gordon aware that Coop was alive and would return at the scheduled time? Was he not-that-worried when he met Evil-Coop (even if he "didn't understand the situation at all"), since he knew it wasn't time for Real-Coop to emerge yet anyway?
It's clear Gordon and Coop were privy to a lot of mysterious knowledge from Major Briggs that mostly went undiscussed. So was this part of it? Because up until that moment, I didn't think anyone understood what had happened to Coop or had any clue when/if he might be back. Yet Gordon seems totally unsurprised to hear from Coop on that day. In fact, Coop's a little late.
What about all of Gordon's monitoring equipment? He seemed pretty intent on it right around the time Dougie was becoming Coop. Did he know to be cosmically on the lookout for his man?
Just wondered what everyone's take on this was, or if there was something more definitive that I missed (such as clues in that fancy capsule left behind by Briggs).
